Luxury 5 bedroom villa
About the home
The gardens were designed by the world famous Florentine landscape designer, Pietro Porcinai who is renowned as one of the most outstanding Italian landscape architects of the twentieth century. The park has numerous paths allowing you to enjoy them to the fullest. There is even an open air theatre. The swimming pool is open from the end of April to October and measures 6m x 12m with the depth varying from 1.8 to 3.0 metres.
The villa itself has been split into 2 symmetrical wings divided by a central loggia. The owners live in the north wing, however spend most of the summer at the coast, thus guaranteeing total privacy for guests staying at the property. The south wing has been contructed over 3 levels and has been beautifully furnished throughout by the owners with both period pieces and antiques. It is a unique place for guests to spend their holiday and is a perfect place to celebrate that special occasion or family gathering in style, making for a truely memorable vacation.
As you enter the property, you will immediately feel the property's grandeur and luxuriousness as a sweeping marble staircase draws the eye upstairs. On the ground floor there is a large formal living area with stone fireplace which leads through into a dining area with glass table. Also on this floor there is a separate living area with satellite TV and space for some quiet study. Upstairs there are 4 bedrooms (3 double bedrooms and 1 twin room), two of which have ensuite bathrooms. There is also a further family bathroom on this floor. All the bedrooms on this floor have access to the wonderful terrace which enjoys views over the Tuscan countryside to the city of Arezzo just 2.5 kms away. A smaller spiral staircase leads from the ground floor to the basement where there is a good sized, well equipped kitchen, utility room and a further bedroom and bathroom. The kitchen is well equipped with oven, hob, microwave, fridge / freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. There is a good sized wooden table in the kitchen for more informal dining. There is also a BBQ and outdoor seating for al fresco dining. French doors lead out from the basement on to the parking area.
The property is fully air conditioned.

The classic landscapes of Tuscany have long held an irresistable attraction for holidaymakers. Made famous by the Renaissance artists, the landscape provides a stunning backdrop to your stay. Visitors are spoilt for choice in terms of Tuscany tourist attractions to visit and Tuscany sights to see, whether it's the Duomo and Uffizi Gallery in Florence, the leaning tower in Pisa or the Campo in Siena. Tuscany even offers some great seaside resorts and is also wonderful walking country too. Undoubtedly the best known and most visited city in Tuscany is Florence. With its stunning architecture and incredible sights, and a host of Florence attractions, from the Duomo to the Uffizi, and from the Palazzo Pitti to the Ponte Vecchio, it's a city full of wonderful art and architecture and beautiful gardens. You must make a point of visiting Siena during your stay too. The cityscape is easily one of the most recognisable Tuscany sights, with it's black and white striped Duomo and huge piazza, home to the famous Siena Palio. The next city on your list of places to visit in Tuscany is Pisa. With the airport there home to cheap airlines such as Easyjet, Pisa is a popular arrival point into Italy. If you do land there, it's worth considering extending your holiday by a night and enjoying an evening in the city before heading to your main destination. The main Tuscany tourist attractions in Pisa are, of course, well known. The leaning tower of Pisa is known world wide but is just one of the attractions to be enjoyed in the Campo dei Miracoli (Field of Miracles), the others being the Duomo, Baptistery and Camposanto. Head out a short way from this main tourist area and you'll find a much different city. Near to Pisa is Lucca, smaller in size than the other Tuscan cities, but one of the richest. Surrounded by the old city walls, the city has a much more intimate feel and is a lovely place to spend an afternoon, exploring it's museums, churches or streets. It's well worth a visit. Smaller in scale again is San Gimignano, one of Tuscany's most famous villages. It's stunning skyline of towers captures the very essence of what people think about when they think of Tuscany. It does get extremely busy as it is popular with tourists but it's a must-see destination for any Tuscan holiday. Make a point of visiting the interior of the Collegiata which is stunning, filled with beautiful frescoes. Also worth seeing are Museo Civico and Pinacoteca. And finally build up an appetite by climbing the Torre Grossa, the only one of the towers you're able to go up. You'll be richly rewarded at the top by stunning views of the Val d'Elsa. Finally, furthest south on your tour of Toscana is the city of Arezzo and town of Cortona. Again, a visit to Tuscany wouldn't be complete without a trip to both places. Of course, the landscape surrounding all these places is stunning. Visitors can gain immense enjoyment simply from driving across it's rural hills and enjoying the Tuscany sights en route. And don't forget as well that the region is bordered by the sea. Forte dei Marmi is certainly the seaside resort most popular with the Italians who head out of Florence to spend the summer at the coast. As a base to stay, the town certainly provides a good option for those with children who want to combine the excitement and fun of a beach holiday with the chance to see some of the cultural sights of the region. It's also a fun day trip if you want to escape the heat inland during the peak Summer months. There are plenty of other Tuscan beaches as you head further south too, many within a 90 minute drive of Florence. And there is plenty to keep the children entertained too, whether it's a watermark, aquarium or theme park. Finally, for golfers, if playing amid olive groves and vineyard covered hills is your idea of the perfect round of golf, then Tuscany is certainly an ideal destination! Golf courses include the Ugolini, Medici and Le Pavoniere golf clubs. Please ask for more information on what to see and do in the area or take a look at my guide to the region on www.bookingsforyou.com.
The Arezzo area
The city of Arezzo is just 2.5 kms away from the villa. This is a beautiful city, well worth a visit. One event certainly worth seeing in the city is the Giostra del Saraceno, held in the Piazza Grande on the penultimate Saturday in June and the first Sunday in September. The afternoon processions switch to a joust in the piazza in the evening. In late June and July the Arezzo Wave rock festival is also worth visiting, attracting some great bands and musicians. The property is perfectly situated for exploring both Tuscany and Umbria. It's only an hours drive from the wonderful cities of Florence and Siena and only a short drive further to Perugia, the Umbrian region's largest art city. The magical city of Assisi is only an hour away as is Orvieto, a town which has always held a unique fascination for tourists. The villa is also very close to Lake Trasimeno where you can enjoy watersports such as sailing in the summer months. Lake Trasimeno is also home to the Trasimeno Blues Festival being held in 2011 from 20th to 31st July. Every evening for eleven days, the festival hosts the best international and national musicians of the day. For those music lovers out there, it's also worth visiting 'Umbria Jazz' a festival held in Perugia each July. (www.umbriajazz.com). For those who enjoy shopping, the Fiera Antiquaria takes over the Piazza Grande in Arezzo on the Saturday before the first Sunday of each month. It's very hard finding a bargain here though - prices aren't cheap (although they do get cheaper as you head into the side streets). If you're more of a bargain hunter, you might want to try the choice of outlet malls instead. The nearest is the Valdichiana outlet www.valdichianaoutlet.it where shoppers can find discounts of up to 70% on designer brands. The Mall is another designer outlet with brands such as Gucci, Armani and Stella McCartney all at a fraction of their normal prices. This is just 40 minutes away in the direction of Florence. And finally there is the McArthur Glen outlet just north of Florence which is also accessible from the villa (www.mcarthurglen.it). If you're after something more relaxing, you might want to visit one of the best known spas in Umbria which is the Terme di Fontecchio at Citta die Castello. It has a modern and relaxing wellness centre and offers various treatments and rehabilitation therapies.
