The Menorca region
Menorca is a very green island unlike the Costas of Southern Spain, this is due to its temperate climate. The holiday season runs from the beginning of May through to the end of October. June, July and August are normally the hottest months. June is a glorious month to visit as the flowers on the island are in bloom and the temperature is warm and pleasant, ideal if you have small children. It is the second largest of the Balearic Islands and is also known for being the least developed. It is an island of many beautiful beaches, some only accessible by boat.
Places well worth a visit: Monte Toro with its beautiful church is in the centre of Menorca, it is the highest point on the island and on a clear day you will see the most fantastic panoramic views of the entire island and all its coastline, if it's clear enough you may also be able to spot the island of Majorca. Mahon the capital of Menorca, has one of the largest natural harbours in the world. Good value boat (glass bottom) trips around the harbour are available and last for just over one hour. Gin is made on Menorca and you will find the main Gin Factory down by the harbour opposite the Ferry terminal. At night Mahon twinkles with all its restaurants and bars, plus all the beautiful yachts moored in the harbour, a pleasant place to spend the evening. Ciutadella is the old capital of Menorca and is a complete contrast to Mahon, it has a lovely harbour, narrow streets and is a great place to visit.
For something different visit the Go Kart track situated by the Lladro shop on the Me-1 road which runs between Mahon and Ciutadella - if you don't want to take part you will find good gift/souvenir shopping here and there is also a children's fun park.
Arenal d'en Castell / Coves Noves area
Arenal d'en Castell is a favourite resort with families and couples wanting a relaxing holiday. The horseshoe bay with its gently shelving soft sand beach is extremely safe, the beach is large enough to avoid overcrowding. Nightlife is low key and revolves around restaurants and bars, there are no nightclubs. The beach is a pleasant 15 minute walk from the villa.
Coves Noves is an extension of Arenal and has its own bars, restaurants, here is where you will find the nearest supermarket to the villa.
The old fishing village of Na Macaret with its small sandy beach and Addaia with its marina are also within easy reach.
During the summer months there is a small road train which runs a regular service from Arenal through Coves Noves and on to Na Macaret (and return) picking up passengers from designated stops on its way. This is a lovely leisurely way to see more of the surrounding area.
There is also a regular public bus service from Arenal to Mahon during the summer. Menorca buses are bright red and yellow so are easy to spot.
How to get there
Flight time to Mahon from the UK is approx 2 hours - Our villa is a 20 minute drive from the airport. Taxi from the airport costs approx 30 Euros. There are many flights operating to Mahon during the summer, if you need help with finding good value flights, please ask. A good flight comparison site is travelsupermarket.com

Guestbook for Ses Moreres
'For a family of 3 generations this lovely accommodation was ideal. Located in a quiet area but close enough to shops, restaurants and an excellent bay in nearby Arenal d'en Castell. The gardens, barbecue and communal pool (which was rarely used by others) simply added to our enjoyment. Ideal for a family holiday. Richard M from Leeds - Holiday June 2009
'Had a fantastic time at the villa, clean, tidy in a lovely spot. We had the pool to ourselves. Kids impressed by video choice and buckets and spades. Thanks.' Rachel N from Huddersfield - Holiday May 2009
'Lovely holiday, house gorgeous spotlessly clean. Photos on website do not do it enough justice. Would definitely stay again.' Sue B from Oldham - Holiday August 2008
'We had a fantastic time, been to Menorca 7 times now - your house is in a nice quiet spot not too far from the lovely beach. Really appreciated the personal touches like video collection which entertained kids when we couldn't. BBQ also well used. We would definitely stay at your home again.' Chris B from Wigan - Holiday June 2008.
'Clean spacious and modern, photos don't do it justice rooms really are quite large, with plenty of storage space in the Bedrooms. Balcony was a great addition, it was large and ideal for outdoor dining with a good view. It's a great place for a holiday, would definitely recommend and we will be returning in 2008 for a second visit'. Gill W from Leeds - Holiday September 2007
'We very much enjoyed our stay, the house was very well-equipped, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The quiet setting and views of the coast from the balcony were very relaxing. Pool was a bonus and rarely in use, as were the tennis courts close by. Have already recommended it to family and friends. Would definitely stay again.' Andrew B from Oxon - Holiday May 2007
'Excellent house in quiet location, within walking distance of beach, restaurants and supermarket. Fitted out with everything you would ever need, although pool is 'shared' it was rarely used by anyone else. If you want a stress free, quiet & relaxing holiday I recommend this property - we intend returning next year.' - Ian P from Derby - Holiday June 2006 - Stayed again in July/August 2007.
