The Menorca region

Menorca is a very green island unlike the Costas of Southern Spain, this is due to its temperate climate. The holiday season runs from the beginning of May through to the end of October. June, July and August are normally the hottest months and the busiest. June is a glorious month to visit as the flowers on the island are in bloom and the temperature is warm and pleasant, ideal if you have small children. Menorca is the second largest of the Balearic Islands and is also known for being the least developed. It is an island of many beautiful beaches, some only accessible by boat.

Places well worth a visit:

Monte Toro with its beautiful church is in the centre of Menorca, it is the highest point on the island and on a clear day you will see the most fantastic panoramic views of the entire island and all its coastline, if it's clear enough you may also be able to spot the island of Majorca.

Mahon the capital of Menorca, has one of the largest natural harbours in the world. Good value boat (glass bottom) trips around the harbour are available and last for just over one hour. Gin is made on Menorca and you will find the main Gin Factory down by the harbour opposite the Ferry terminal. At night Mahon twinkles with all its restaurants and bars, plus all the beautiful yachts moored in the harbour, a pleasant place to spend the evening.

Ciutadella is the old capital of Menorca and is a complete contrast to Mahon, it has a lovely harbour, narrow streets and is a great place to visit.

Arenal d'en Castell

Arenal d'en Castell is a favourite resort with families and couples wanting a relaxing holiday. The horseshoe bay with its gently shelving soft sand beach is extremely safe, It's ideal for small children and non-swimmers. Nightlife is low key and revolves around restaurants and bars. The beach is a pleasant 15 minute walk from the villa.

Coves Noves is an extension of Arenal and has its own bars, restaurants and Tennis Club. Our nearest supermarket is in the Coves Noves main area.

The old fishing village of Na Macaret with its small sandy beach and Addaia with its marina are also within easy reach.

During the summer months there is a small road train which runs a regular service from Arenal through Coves Noves and on to Na Macaret (and return) picking up passengers from designated stops on its way. This is a lovely leisurely way to see more of the surrounding area if you do not have a car.

There is also a regular public bus service from Arenal to Mahon during the summer. Menorca buses are bright red and yellow so are easy to spot.

"It was good. quite and relaxing"

A bit too quite for us and from our point of view needed a car due to the raised elevation. Not much to do in the evenings with out travelling then limited. Disappointed not more food markets but this could be the time of year we went. The villa was good, clean and plenty of videos, CD and DVD. The pool was clean and in good repair. Overall the villa and the area around was clean and tidy and in good repair

"Wonderful place for a family holiday"

We have just come back from a two week stay at this lovely spacious house. We went with our daughter, her husband and three children. The house was plenty big enough for all of us. It was extremely we… More

"A very nice, well equipped villa in a quiet location"

We had a lovely holiday, which was due in no small way to this well appointed villa. It is obviously someone's home and much better than a normal holiday rental. There are lots beach mats, loungers, buckets and spades etc available.
The balcony is ideal for family meals and our 1yr old grand daughter was fascinated by the birds in the surrounding trees. We had the swimming pool to ourselves most of the time, an ideal area for sunbathing if you want a day off from the beach.

"ticks all the boxes for a young family"

Exactly as stated in the advertisment - plenty of equipment in the kitchen, lots of hot water and good size fridge/freezer. A good local supermarket selling British products if needed as well as plenty of fresh bread , fruit and veg. We were right at the end of the season and things were shutting up on the island but Arenal still had a hotel, restuarant and cafe open.
As we had bad weather for the second week some additional heating would have been useful. Suitable for active couples or family.

Thanks for a good review. Your comments on heating are noted and we will ensure more heaters are on site for 2013.

"Relaxing retreat"

Roomy three bedroom villa with quiet garden and large balcony with pool view. We had the pool to ourselves most days. Owners very helpful and easy to deal with.

"Relaxing holiday in a well equipped large villa"

The villa was a lot larger than expected and there was plenty of room of 4 adults and 4 children. It had everything needed for a self catering holiday, very clean too.
Directions and helpful advice for car hire from the owners were brilliant, nothing too much trouble.
It was a little bit of a walk from the villa to Arenal but only for our 5 year old, ages 11 and above it's not a hassle. Coves noves resort is closer and the bars and restaurants were all friendly, nice food and reasonably priced. The water park just down the road is well worth a visit.
Would definitely recommend friends to hire this villa and so reasonbly priced especially 2 families go!

"Beautiful Villa in a very pretty resort"

We stayed at this Villa with our extended family - 7 in total, inc. 3 teenagers. The Villa is set in a beautiful spot, overlooking the fabulous private pool and pretty well maintained gardens. Inside the Villa was everything you could possibly need. We had plenty of room and each person could retire to their own quarter. The balcony is a particular special feature which overlooks the pool and gardens, there is a table to seat a large family, and most evenings/breakfasts we ate out there. The pool was never crowded and in a real sun trap. Arenal is a beautiful bay with excellent swimming and a lovely beach, few shops and restaurants, very quiet. The shops/bars/restaurants from the Villa are quite a walk away, so not the option to "nip" to supermarket. There is however, a little train that travels around the area. We hired a car to see the rest of the pretty Island which is quiet and unspoilt. Would definitely stay here again!

This holiday home was great because if you thought you needed something you could usually find it if you looked hard enough! Other villas have been lacking in the kitchen equipment department but not … More

"Beautiful villa in a superb clean safe setting with superb views"

This is the third year running we have stayed at 2b, Caller Romani, Coves Noves and the villa and surrounding area are just superb. On arrival everything was spotless with a welcome pack in place which was brilliant as we arrived at 23.00 hrs. All amenities are within a ten minute walk, supermarket, shops and restaurants all english speaking with the stunning beach of Arenal Den Castell a further five minutes walk away. I recommend a hire car as the surrounding area is just fabulous with local restaurants offering a wide choice of meals of the day from 12 Euros.
