The Menorca region
Holiday Villas in Menorca
Menorca, the second largest of the Balearic Islands, offers visitors a lot. Staying in villas in Menorca means enjoying the unspoilt beauty of one of the most tranquil and least built-up island in the Mediterranean. If you just want to get away from it all, then here is the place to do it. You can enjoy isolation or immerse yourself in the culture of the island, untouched by the mass tourism that affects some of Menorca's neighbours.
When it comes to beaches, Menorca is a holiday maker's paradise. The island has as many beaches as Majorca and Ibiza combined, even though Majorca is much larger than it. Our villas in Cala Galdana and villas in Cala Blanca are perfect examples of what you can expect to find throughout Menorca's coast. Temperatures between April and December are regularly above 15°C, and the summer months are wonderfully dry. As always, it's not just quantity that is important, but quality too, and Menorca's numerous beaches are also some of the best you'll find. Cala Pregonda is particularly beautiful, whilst Son Bou stretches for around 2.5km. It's also easy to find space away from the crowds, and you can expect to enjoy beaches without having to fight for a spot on the sand.
If you can tear yourself away from the beach, you'll find that Minorca offers some amazing experiences to those who seek them out. The island's capital, Maó, holds the second largest natural deep water harbour in the world, and glass-bottomed boats offer regular cruises around it, giving you a chance to see some of the wildlife that fills the waters for yourself. Our villas in Mahon offer you another chance to experience a historic port town with its own monuments and sights of interest.
Wildlife can easily become a theme of your holiday; the entire island is a European Biological Reserve and a UNESCO Biosphere Reverse, and over 75% of the island's land is protected from heavy development. You can find rare birds and other species, or see some of the Mediterranean's last turtles around the shore. The island also has a wonderful variety of flowers, including plenty of orchids and number of flowers you'll only find on islands like Menorca.
If you're eating out during your stay in a villa in Menorca, expect to find no shortage of sea food on the menu, all of it wonderfully prepared and cooked. You can also find plenty of restaurants that make the most of Minorca's wonderful landscape, offering views across some of the island's best vistas from the alfresco dining terraces. Our villas in Cala'N Bosch are an excellent choice if you're interested in sampling some of Menorca's best food during your stay.
The island is bursting with history. Maó's harbour has been fought over again and again, and been home to numerous fleets. The French, British, Spanish, Romans and Berbers have all claimed it at one time or another, and the rest of the island with it. It was a superb place to station a fleet that kept it safe from any storms and was easily defendable, but also offered excellent access to the rest of the Mediterranean. There are also the Taulas, T-shaped stone formations which were created millennia ago for an unknown purpose.
One of the holdovers from the British period of rule is Minorcan Gin, a gin distilled from a juniper-based spirit. It's popular and can be found all over the island, especially as Pomada, a mix of the gin with bitter lemon, and is drunk throughout the day by locals.
Minorca is a great place for a family holiday, as the quieter, more peaceful surroundings are perfect for children and parents alike. Despite the idyllic surroundings, you won't run out of things to do or place to explore whilst staying in a villa in Menorca.
The Arenal d'en Castell area
On Menorca's rugged northern coast lies Arenal D'en Castell whose near faultless bay has to be seen to be believed. Warm shallow waters ensure its as inviting as it appears, especially for children.
Located on the northern coastline of Menorca, the popular coastal resort of Arenal d'en Castell is a popular destination for holidays in this beautiful part of the island. Menorca's northern region comprises a stretch of rugged coastline with several beautiful unspoilt beaches, some barely accessible by car. Arenal d'en Castell is in a slightly more developed area and sits on a picturesque horseshoe shaped bay, with a superb sandy beach and a decent range of facilities. The beach is mostly safe for families with young children and the waters are shallow, and warm during the summer season.
