The Scottish Highlands region
World-renowned for their Scenic beauty, the Scottish Highlands offer unsurpassed touring, mountains, lochs, glens, wildlife sightings and much more! The beauty of this part of the world is the peacefulness, clean air and the friendly people.
Although The Scottish Highlands does experiences high levels of rainfall, it really isn't expected to top up your tan on a holiday here! However, the months of April, May, June, September and October usually expect better weather. During the months of December, January and February there is often snow on the mountains and often at lower levels.
Situated on the Stunning West Coast of Scotland, Ardnamurchan is a long, narrow peninsula along the shores of Loch Sunart and includes the most westerly tip of the British Mainland. Kingairloch is actually on the Morvern peninsula which flanks the other side of Loch Sunart and the sound of Mull. The name is derived from the Gaelic A' Mhorbhairn, meaning Sea-Gap.
A visit to the Ardnamurchan Lighthouse located on the most westerly tip of the British Mainland is well worth a trip, the views of the Atlantic are quite amazing. There are numerous sea tour operators that take visitors for day trips to explore the local coastline, a trip to Fingals Cave on Staffa is very special.
The Isle of Mull is only a short drive away and is home to the famous town of Tobermory, Sea Eagles and fantasitc beaches. Visitors can catch the ferry from Lochaline and enjoy a fantastic day out.

"As always remote, peaceful, VIEWS, wildlife, dog friendly."
Easy to book, friendly and helpful where needed. Comfortable with wonderful, ever-changing views. Miles from anywhere but with the very good Boathouse Restaurant just up the road, (Open for the season, Thurs to Sun, good idea to book, local produce ie superb venison and seafoods). Small fenced garden ( Probably not really secure for adventurous dogs). Easy walking from property. Less than an hour to the Mull ferry.
Good wildlife: seen from the window this time were: plenty of deer, several otters and the regular pine marten! (Don't forget to take him some peanut butter!)
WiFi available at the boathouse. Slight drawback: no washing machine so just go prepared!
And if you're into churches don't miss looking at the amazing windows in the dear little church next door. Tip: buy a midge net each before you arrive, about £5-6 in most of the village shops in the area.

"Not very far off perfect for peace, scenery, dogs, oaps,quality/comfort of cottage + super food at The Boathouse."
Whether you're into active holidays or just want to relax and take in the amazing scenery holiday properties on the Kingairloch Estate seem to tick most of the boxes. This cottage has a small enclosed garden which is good for dogs, although if you own a getter-outer it might just be able to hop onto the wall and slip under the wire!
It is remote, mobiles may not get signals, no Broadband until you go to the Boathouse Restaurant up the road. The spring water supply is checked on a weekly basis and we had no qualms about drinking it. The cottage is in a beautiful setting and is well equipped, warm and comfortable. There is fairly flat walking from the door for those who are less mobile, and plenty of wildlife to watch. (We saw distant eagles from the garden).
Treat yourself to a midge net (available cheaply in many Highland stores) for times when there is with no breeze and make sure you Frontline your dog before you leave home.

Charming and comfortable little cottage in a stunningly beautiful place. Excellent for walkers, wildlife watchers or anyone wanting peace and quiet. Remote from shops, attractions, pubs and restaurants, apart from the Boathouse. This is a small and pretty restaurant, food is good, only open Thursday to Sunday in the holiday season.
