About the home
Apart from its ideal location, your first thoughts when you enter the house are likely to be surprise when you see what is hidden behind the front door. The entrance corridor turns a 90 degree bend into the courtyard (a traditional Moorish feature to hide from prying eyes) which acts as the heart of the house. Huge wooden doors lead off to bedrooms, whilst the old mule quarters have been converted into a modern bathroom with twin sinks and underfloor heating.
Stairs wind up inside the courtyard to the modern kitchen and large airy sitting room with 12 foot high beamed ceilings and a wood burning stove for winter nights. Downstairs in the courtyard is also a large stove which takes the winter night chill off the whole house. More stairs lead you to the roof terrace with stunning views, a built-in barbecue area, proper seating and a second bathroom. We know that you are here to visit Arcos, but staying here will make your stay truly unforgettable.

Further details indoors:
On the ground floor the house is laid out around the covered central courtyard, which is covered at the level of the roof terrace - triple height - ensuring that the whole house is flooded with light. Off the courtyard are the bedrooms. Bedroom 1 has a double bed and is en-suite to the main bathroom which has a huge shower area, twin sinks and underfloor heating. The bathroom is also accessed via a separate entrance. Bedrooms 2 and 3 have a single bed, though both are easily big enough for an additional bed (we kitted the house out for 4 as we are 4!).
On the first floor the kitchen is 'modern rustic', very modern, but with terracotta floor and beamed ceiling, with an electric fan oven with a gas hob, fridge, kettle, matching cutlery and crockery, and the sitting room. The large sitting room has high beamed ceilings, doors opening out onto a small balcony a sofa, chairs, dining area and TV (for DVDs only), stereo plus a wood burning stove.
Further details outdoors:
The roof terrace is really an outdoor living area. With seating for 6, a dedicated barbecue area, fantastic views, and a small bathroom, this is the best place to enjoy a sun downer or two!

The Andalucia / Cadiz Province region

Undoubtedly the hidden jewel in the beautiful and unspoilt Cadiz province of Andalucia, Arcos de la Frontera is the perfect town for both a relaxing break and a base for exploring the area. Arcos itself is a true cultural centre with a full calendar of events going on every month throughout the year, whilst the area around Arcos is both accessible via an excellent road network, and incredibly diverse due to it's situation between the Atlantic beaches and the Sierra de Grazalema, yet within easy reach of Sevilla and Cadiz.
The Arcos de la Frontera / Casco Antiguo area
The Costa de la Luz is only 30 minutes away. From Tarifa to Cadiz and beyond, the wide white sand beaches, backed in the most part by countryside and accessible via small country lanes are undoubtedly one of Spain's best kept secrets. As well as sunbathing, the beaches are used extensively for kite surfing and horseriding.
The nearest golf course is the newly-opened, world-class Arcos Gardens, which is less than 5 minutes away. The course was designed and built by Landmark, and is set on rolling hills amongst ancient olive groves. The course also features Europe's largest practice range.
One of the reasons we bought the property is for the outdoor sports available in the area. Fantastic paragliding, mountain biking, sailing, hiking and horseriding are all nearby and Europes best kitesurfing is on the Atlantic coast, 30 minutes from Arcos. If you want to do any outdoor sports during your stay let us know in advance as we can advise you accordingly.

Guestbook for 14 Martin Montero
'We visited Arcos 25 years ago when we were first married, and coming back here again is like stepping back in time. There's a few more cars of course but the special charm of the town remains. And having our own private roof terrace in the heart of the town made our stay extra special.' Terry and Belinda, South London.
'We normally stay in hotels when we travel but we are so glad we tried something different in Arcos. Staying in a traditional house in the old town gave us a real insight into what it must be like to live somewhere like this.' Mike and Sue, Brighton.
'What a lovely house! Having breakfast in the courtyard before setting off for the day we felt like we had been transported to a different time, and enjoying a glass of wine on the roof terrace whilst watching the mountains turn pink with the setting sun was something we'll never forget.' Bill and Shirley, Manchester.
