Home description
Situated in a charming village setting, this cottage is ideal for couples or those with a small family who do not want a beach holiday. The village is in the beautiful Sierra de Aracena and definitely in rural Spain. An ideal chance to brush up on your Spanish if you want, although the local villagers are very friendly and are good at international sign language!!. The cottage is fully equipped and you will be able to enjoy the freshly grown vegetables from our garden. We have a DVD as well as a book library and in the summer you can go and pick as many fresh vegetables as you wish from our large 'huerta'. These include onions the size of bowling balls, the tastiest tomatoes ever, green and red peppers, zucchini, cucumbers and the list goes on....More info on www.visit-rural-spain.com
We provide a welcome pack including wine, beer, fresh bread, butter, orange juice, tea, coffee, sugar, and spanish produce. If you come on a Sunday, or bank holiday, I am happy to do some shopping in advance for you. Check out our own website for a punter's guide to our accommodation.

The Costa de la Luz / Huelva Province region
The Sierra de Aracena is prime walking country. The scenery is spectacular and visited by people across the world as well as the Spanish themselves. The region is Spanish first and foremost and there is no burger bar in sight. We have walked many of the 'Senderos' which are mostly old mule tracks across the hills. They are both beautiful and interesting. I am currently writing a book on the senderos of the area, and we can provide easy, medium and difficult routes for those that wish to enjoy the Sierras.
Aracena / Aracena Town area
Aracena is the nearest town - 7 km and is famous for the black jamon, which are reared locally. It also boasts the grutas or caves that were used in the Indiana Jones movie. There are many restaurants and tapas bars as well as local typical Spanish shops. The market is held on a Saturday and you can stock up on locally produced olives, ham and pate. In the summer, each village has its own fiesta which last 4 days each. They tend to be themed, such as the peach fiestas, the vegetable slaughter feria, the fiesta of the road, etc. They are both fun and real spain. The views are over the village and to the Sierras. Parking is available. Everyone that has come feels the pictures do not do it justice as it is much larger than it appears. We have tried to cover every requirement you may have from a self catering house. Every guest has been asked what was missing and the only thing recently was egg cups, so we have them now!!
We have had parties of 4, using both the double bed sized sofa beds. We charge £50 per week extra for the additional person.
Further details outdoors: The sun terrace is large and has lighting for evening bbqs, with sunloungers and a table and chairs. It is completely private and faces south. There are potted orange trees and plants in the terrace. Occasionally our friendly cat called Fats will show her paw under the gate - she's just an attention seeker, and means no harm!!

July and August – real opportunity to enjoy real Spanish cooking
If you want to relax and forget about cooking and washing up during your stay here in rural Spain, why not take advantage of eating quality Spanish food in your own cottage. In July and August we are offering you the opportunity of inclusive daily Spanish breakfast and evening meals for five nights of a week. Freshly cooked from all fresh ingredients prepared in traditional the Spanish style. The local pork here is amazing and tastes and looks more like good quality beef than the pork you are able to buy in the rest of Europe. Each pig in our region lives wild among the tall cork acorn trees and roots around for the abundant acorns that give them their unique flavour. Or try the famous tortilla made with fresh vegetables and truly free range eggs. Each night you will be offered a small choice of alternative Spanish dishes, served with local bread, free from additives and freshly grown salad.
Sample Menu
Solomio in whiskey – a juicy pork fillet marinated in whiskey, garlic and thyme and served on a bed of caramelised apple, accompanied by tomato, onion and oregano salad and Spanish potatoes
Or perhaps
Gambas en ajo – fresh large prawns seasoned and cooked in garlic butter, served with fresh green salad and Spanish omelette
Or even
Berejenas San Jacobo – A speciality aubergine or eggplant dish cooked with goats cheese and local jamon. (Jamon can be omitted for vegetarians). This dish is particularly tasty with home made tomato salsa and roasted potatoes Spanish style.
All topped off with custard fruit or perhaps Spanish rice pudding
You choose which menu and which days you would like to sit back and have dinner prepared just for you. We can handle most dietary needs, so just let us know in advance what you prefer or perhaps would like to try.
The cost of renting the house and enjoying the catering for any week in July and August is £400 for two people and £470 for three people.

Guestbook
Vikki from London "We had a fantastic week at Evaristo Perez. The house exceeded our expectations and Fran and Mike were fantastic, friendly and really helpful. They provided us with loads of information about the local area and activities both before we arrived and during our stay. As a result we managed to go hiking and horseriding. We also managed several trips to the nearby lake and a day at the coast. In addition their tips for food in the local village were great! This is a beautiful, undiscovered bit of Spain and we'd definetly visit again
Mike and Ann says: "We were fortunate to spend all of February in Evaristo Perez. All aspects greatly exceeded our expectations. The property was much more spacious than we thought from the web site and absolutely everything we could want had been provided. The welcome basket was especially appreciated after a long journey.Fran and Mike, our Hosts, were very special people and always available to ensure that we got the most from the very friendly village and the amazing range of entrancing walks. Many thanks to them.We would love to return at some stage."
"My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Evaristo Perez. The property was spacious and very clean with everything you could want provided. Our hosts, Mike and Fran, were very helpful and friendly and we could not have asked for better accommodation. We would highly recommend this property for staying in 'real' Spain."
Paul and Janet said ""Had a great time, the description of the property did not do it justice. The little extras really made it for us, the welcome basket, the dvds, the books and the charming terraced area and BBQ were used almost nightly. Will definitely come again.
