The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur region

Provence boasts the largest Canyon in Europe – the Gorges du Verdon. Within this area is the lake of St Croix which offers a wide range of recreational facilities. Provence also boasts the towering Mont Ventoux – the Giant of Provence, almost 2,000 metres above sea level. Although one can ascend this mountain by car or foot, it is one of cycling’s most famous mountains, and has a place in the history of the Tour de France.

This is the heart of Provence, an area that has attracted many for centuries.

The Luberon offers a wide range of activities, from exploring the many markets (there is a market every day some where in Provence), hill-top villages, wine tasting, painting, to the more physical pursuits such as rock-climbing, canoeing, tennis, golf, horse-riding - not to mention the abundance of walking and cycling routes.

The larger cities of Avignon, Arles, Aix-En-Provence are within an approximate one hour's driving distance. Similarly, the busy seaside resort of Marseilles can be reached within about an hours drive and other coastal areas such as Cassis, the Calanques, the Camargue and the cosmopolitan Cote D’Azur areas of Nice, Cannes andSt Tropez can also be enjoyed as a daytrips.
