Chalet-Vendee is a 2 bedroom luxury cottage style chalet that comfortably sleeps 4.
It measures 7.3 x 3.7 metres and is set in a generous garden of about 156 sq. metres. The chalet consists of a master bedroom with double bed, a double sized wardrobe and a Jack/Gill shower room. There is a separate w. c. The twin bedroom comes complete with wardrobe and storage).
The main ceiling in the lounge is vaulted and gives an air of spaciousness.
There is comfortable seating in the lounge. It has a panel heater, 22” LCD TV, with Free Sat DVD player and assorted DVD's. Please by all means bring your own DVDs). We have a mothercare high chair.
The kitchen is fully fitted with a full size 4 gas hob, table top oven with grill and rotisserie, larder fridge/freezer, microwave, teapot and cutlery, glasses & crockery etc for 6).
The chalet opens onto a large wooden terrace, complete with table and 4 chairs, where you can relax, enjoy the sunshine or dine out “al fresco”. The terrace has an enclosed area for shade if needed. We have 2 sun-loungers, Ideal for sunbathing or catching up with that book you promised to finish! There is a library on site near the bar. An electric BBQ is provided to make the most of the outdoor life. No more worries of running out of gas (no charcoal allowed on site)
Pillows and quilts are provided, but you will need to take your own bed linen.
2 single/ I double fitted sheets, 3 double duvet covers, a mat for the shower room to step onto for safety and tea towels.

Les Prairies Du Lac **** is a 4 star parc in the heart of the Vendee region.
The site is open all the year round and consists of chalets and “cottage” style homes Situated between Mache and the medieval village of Apremont'e on the D40 Route de Mache.
With a rural setting and a sedate atmosphere, it is the perfect location for enjoying a quiet and relaxing holiday, without being too far away from outdoor and indoor entertainment. This well established park is on the west coast of France, just a 20 minute drive from St. Gilles Croix de Vie and its sandy beaches. The Vendee is a 'mini climate', basking in 2600 hours of sunshine a year
The park has a good community spirit and the excellent facilities make it ideal for long or short holidays all year round. Facilities include reception and security.
It has a bar, laundry room, Wi-Fi Internet access, there are 2 pools, the indoor pool is heated and there is a paddling pool for small children. There is a children's play area, table tennis and mini golf. During the high season (mid June to late August) there is a bar with facilities for pool and darts. There is of course a boules ground.
During the high season, there are also organised entertainments and events.
The members of staff in reception speak very good English and are always helpful.

France - Bound? Take Breathalyser Kits or Face Fine
Motorists in France now have to carry breathalyser kits in their vehicles.
Drivers have to travel with two single-use devices so they can test themselves with the kits if they suspect they are over the limit.
Overseas drivers will have a four-month grace period and anyone failing to produce a breathalyser after November 1 will receive an 11 euro (£8) fine. These can be purched through Halfords
Anyone driving in France must also carry a warning triangle, a florescent safety vest and a fire extinguisher.
1. When you (the client) make a booking, you guarantee that you have the authority to accept and do accept on behalf of your party the terms of these booking conditions. A contract will exist as soon as we (the owners) issue our confirmation invoice. The contract is made in the terms of these booking conditions which are governed by English Law and we both agree to submit to the jurisdiction of the English Courts at all times.
2. To reserve the property, you should complete and sign the booking form and return it with the agreed payment in full together with a security deposit of £100 (see Para. 3) must be paid at least 8 weeks prior to commencement of the period of hire. If a booking is made within 8 weeks of departure, the full amount due (including £100 security deposit) must accompany the booking form. Should you be obliged to cancel the holiday, the balance of the hire charge can only be refunded if the accommodation is re-let.
We strongly recommend that you take out a comprehensive travel insurance policy
(Inc. cancellation cover) and to have full cover for personal & public liability.
3. The security deposit of £100 is refundable and is held pending confirmation that the accommodation and its contents have been left in a clean and tidy condition and that any damage has been repaired satisfactorily and any breakages replaced. You are responsible for the holiday home and its contents and will be liable for the full cost of replacement, repair and/or additional cleaning at £20/hour unless necessitated by circumstances beyond your control. The security deposit less any charges in respect of the above will either be destroyed if paid by cheque or refunded within 21 days of vacating the holiday home.
4. You will be required to agree to and be bound by the rules and regulations of the Parc and to accept responsibility for other members of your party.
Deep fat frying of food is prohibited. We operate a no smoking policy within the property. The bringing of pets onto the property is also forbidden. The maximum number of people allowed to reside in the property must not exceed the total agreed with us when booking.
5. In the event of circumstances beyond our control requiring us to cancel a booking, (e.g. Because of non availability of the accommodation due to fire or other damage) repayment in full of all monies paid to us in respect of the hire will be made. However, whilst we would attempt to find alternative accommodation of a comparable standard, under no circumstances shall our liability to you, exceed the amount paid to us for the hire period.
6. Unless otherwise agreed with us in writing, the period of hire shall commence at 16.00 hours local time on the Saturday of commencement of the hire period and end at 10.00 on the Saturday of termination of the hire period. We shall not be obliged to offer accommodation before the time stated and you shall not be entitled to remain in occupation after the time stated.
7. You shall report to the us without delay, any defects in the property or breakdown of any equipment or appliances in the property so that arrangements can be made by ourselves or our representatives to deal with as soon as possible.
The Poitou-Charentes/Vendee region
The Vendee is an area which is the French equivalent of a county. It’s about the same size as Devon and is located south of Brittany and north of La Rochelle. Its western edge is defined by Atlantic coastline, putting it within the region known as Western Loire. From the mouth of the Loire to L’Aiguillon sur Mer, the 140 km coastline is almost one magnificent long sandy beach. Many of the beaches regularly receive European Blue Flag accolades for their cleanliness and water quality. The Vendee’s sunshine record is about 2500 hours per year.
You will find that driving in this part of France is a lot less stressful than motoring back in the UK, due to the quieter open roads and beautiful scenery. Travelling to this area takes between 3 and 6 hours depending on which English Channel port you use. Special ferry rates apply when using Brittany Ferries from Caen, Cherbourg, Roscoff and St. Malo.
Apremont, is a very picturesque village, about 20 km east from St Hilaire is dominated by the remains of the renaissance Chateau d’Apremont, ideal for picnics, as well as swimming and boating on the river La Vie. At Commequiers is a “Velo Rail” that uses an old railway track and hand carts to travel on and see some beautiful countryside. About 2 hours away is La Rochelle with its old fortified port and ancient houses.
Some of the Loire chateaux are accessible for a daytrip.
To the east near Les Épesses is some of the region’s best known entertainment at the world famous castle of Le Puy-de-Fou. This includes “Le Grand Parc” historical theme park, the Chateau, museums and ”Cinescenie” an incredible open air, night time show. At Poitiers, there is the state of the art theme park “Futuroscope”.
Near Port St.Pere there is Planete Sauvage, an excellent safari park similar to Longleat. Also there is a very good zoo at Les Sables d’Olonne.It also happens to be the home of the famous Vendee Globe single handed round the world yacht race. Pornic is a very chic “Edwardian” style resort in the North Vendee, with lots of restaurants around the harbour. For shopping, there are large hypermarkets at St. Hilaire and St. Gilles Croix de Vie.
Not to be missed are the local markets, held every morning in the surrounding towns and villages, where excellent local produce and crafts can be purchased. Both Nantes and the region’s capital, La Roche sur Yon have good shopping and historical interest. You can travel to Nantes by train from Croix de Vie.

"Small but perfectly formed"
Everything you need is on hand - site and facilities were excellent and owners couldn't have been more helpful. The chalet was well equipped and had the bonus of outside garden space and comfortable sun loungers. There was lots of activities in the clubhouse and was a perfect base from which to visit the local attractions including the coast.
Thank you Phil, it was great that we were able to accomodate you at such short notice. Elaine said she stayed on the weekend with you and enjoyed the beaches close by.

"Everything you need for a great Vendee base."
The owners have equipped this holiday home out to a high standard, there was everything we needed including sun loungers. It is located on a spacious corner plot with a tree giving shade. The caravan was immaculately clean and the site was well maintained. The facilities included a bar, entertainment and a well run kids club, which we made use of.
We enjoyed having indoor and outdoor pools to choose from, which weren't too busy considering it was peak weeks we visited.
The site was quiet and well located on the edge of the village, which had all the amenities we needed, bakery shop and pharmacist. This site was convenient for site seeing and using the lake in Apremont for swimming and sunbathing.
The owners stayed in contact with us and made sure we enjoyed our stay. Excellent holiday base.
