Sea Blue Cottage is around two hundred years old and is part of the fabric of Appledore's rich maritime history: Some of the wooden floorboards were once used to build boats.

About five minutes away is Westward Ho! Beach with its two miles of golden sand - a popular destination for surfers and families. Bideford town has an eclectic mix of shops, quayside cafes and a huge park to stroll in. Other nearby attractions include Barnstaple town and the tiny fishing village of Clovelly. Instow is the village you can see across the estuary.

Sea Blue Cottage is so close to the local shops, galleries, pubs, and restaurants. Best of all the Hockings ice cream van is practically outside the front door! Whether you want some quality family time or a romantic break, this cottage can be tailored to suit your needs.

The accommodation offers TWO bedrooms; that's a double on the first floor and a twin on the second. Both rooms have a sublime view of the estuary. On the first floor you'll also find the bathroom which has a separate walk-in shower and corner bath. The lounge has a large sofa and armchair, with a TV, DVD and Freeview. There is a dining table and a gas fire for those chilly nights.

The kitchen has all the usual suspects, including a double oven, dishwasher and a fridge/freezer.

Further details outdoors

There's nothing quite like having drink as the sun goes down or eating al fresco in the comfort of your own back yard. Sea Blue Cottage has a rear patio area next to the kitchen and as part of this quirky house, an outside toilet!

The carpark is less than a minute's walk away and there is roadside parking too.

Our changeover day is Saturday and we would like guests to arrive no earlier than 3pm and leave no later than 11am please.

The cottage has a winding staircase, so small children may need to be supervised.

About this location

The Devon region

Devon is a pretty, rural county. It has the best of both worlds as it's fringed by miles of beautiful coastline, with acres of greenfields inland.

For the keen walker and cyclist, make sure you check out the Tarka Trail whose origins can be found in the famous tale of Tarka the Otter.

The county benefits from a number of National Trust properties which are open all year round.

For the keen shopper there are many market towns with a variety of independent shops.

Devon is also extremely well known for its abundance of high quality food and drink, and many of the restaurants make sure they use local produce.

Appledore

Appledore certainly gets a spring in its step when the clocks go forward. Look out for its very own Appledore Festival, the North Devon Festival, Appledore Sailing Regatta, and the Appledore Book Festival at the end of the summer.

Over the years the latter has attracted some famous names from frontbench politicians to well known authors.

"Lovely cottage in a great spot"

A gorgeous cottage, well decorated, furnished and equipped. Outdoor loo was a quirky reminder of how things used to be (don't worry, there's one inside as well!), and handy when someone was… More

Thank you for your kinds comments - I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay!
I appreciate the lack of Wi-Fi can be frustrating, although I wanted to create a space where families can totally get away from the trappings of modern-day life. However, this may be something I'll change in the future. And I accept that phone signal can be a bit temperamental!
I do hope I can welcome you and your family back again in the future. Appledore really is a very special place.
