Home description
Originally a dairy farm the property is both completely secluded and tranquil but convenient for Aosta centre. Set on the mountainside surrounded by forests and with stunning views over the valley the house is set over three floors. It comprises two completely self contained apartments but with a dining area for 12 so it`s ideal for two parties holidaying together. The apartments can however be rented separately upon request.
The ground floor apartment has a kitchenette with living/dining room, log burner, long farmhouse dining table and two single fold out beds. One double bedroom + shower, wc. The upper apartment has a kitchenette with living area, log burner and double sofa bed, a twin bedroom, a bathroom. On the third floor there`s a bunk bedroom and an en suite WC. A further fold up bed and child`s bed are also available.
The forest trails start just a few metres from our garden, these take you to the waterfall and through the mountains leading eventually to the start of the national park `Grand Paradiso`. Other summer activities include horse riding, mountain biking, gliding, rafting and summer skiing. There are also outdoor pools nearby and a forest adventure park with zip lines/ fox pulleys and pirate ropes. The historical and elegant centre of Aosta is ten minutes by car. Art and music festivals are held here throughout the summer with plenty of live events, jazz, rock and classical concerts being regularly held.It also has a great selection of excellent but inexpensive restaurants.
In the winter months the property is let out as a ski chalet. It is in an ideal location being approximately five minutes drive to the Pila ski lifts, half an hour from Courmayeur and La Thuile/ La Rosiere and about an hour from Cervinia and Gressonay. The Aosta Valley lift pass encompasses one of the largest ski areas in Europe available under one lift pass.

The North West Italy / Aosta Valley region
The Romans founded Aosta under Augustus Preatoria because of it`s strategic significance on the routes of the Little and Grand Bernard Passes leading to France and Switzerland. The heart of the city is steeped in history and the surrounding areas dotted with castles, forts and churches. For centuries craftsmen and artisans crossed the passes to trade in Aosta and the largest annual craft fair in Europe still takes place in there each January. There is a long tradition of hospitality to travellers which can be felt today in the warm welcome given to visitors. Winters are cold and snowy with the renowned ski resorts of Cervinia, Courmayeur, La Thuile and Pila all within a short drive. The ski lifts to Pila are situated 5 minutes drive from the house. Autumns and spring are usually bright and sunny. The autumn colours are fabulous making it an especially good time for hiking breaks. Summers are usually hot and dry with pin sharp skies.
Aosta area
Aosta and the surrounding villages hold art and craft and musical festivals throughout the summer. Live jazz, rock and classical concerts are often held in the castles and forts throughout the valley and the Roman amphitheatre in Aosta centre hosts events. Hiking, mountain biking, horse riding, rafting, gliding, canoeing and summer skiing are all available nearby. The Aosta Valley is also well known for its fabulous skiing.
How to get there
Fly to Turin. The house is approximately an one`s drive from the airport, motorway almost all the way. Flights with Ryanair can be found for as little as 99p. If driving the property is an hour from the French border via the Mont Blanc tunnel or the Swiss border via the Grand Bernard Pass.

The property's weekend rates apply to: Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights
NB: Prices may be subject to change at the advertiser's discretion.
The rental rates for 5 people relate to rental of the top floor apartment which sleeps 5/6 - twin bedroom, bunk bedroom + double sofa in the living room.
The price for 10 people relates to the rental of the whole house which sleeps 8 /10. We do not recommend full capacity if the party is all adults. The extra beds are to allow flexibility for family groups. Long weekends and split weeks on request - very cheap flights to Turin with Ryanair available mid week.
