The Swiss Alps / Valais/Swiss Alps region

In winter there is 52 kms of marked pistes, a snowpark for snow boarders, 35 km of snow shoe trails and a cross country trail. The large ski resorts of Verbier, Crans Montana, Zermatt and Saas Fee are all within reach for a days skiing too.
In summer there is 160 kms of footpaths, 2 mountain bike trails, 3 outdoor tennis courts as well as lots of climbing and parascending opportunities. A new swimming pool / health and wellbeing complex/spa is due to open in the village in November 2011.
The nearest main town in the valley is Sion. If you do not want to use a car there is a regular bus from just outside the apartment to the town / station which takes approximately 30 minutes. The old medieval town is a delight to walk around and explore. There are many high quality, shops, bars and restaurantsyou need for self catering. Also during the day on the mountain there are four very good restaurant / bars. For a wider range drive or take the bus down to Sion.
Lake Geneva is two hour drive away with the stunning towns of Montreux and Lausanne and traditional steamer trips.
The train system in Switzerland is amazing and makes travelling almost relaxing.
Anzere is in a great place as you can access so many towns, spas and places of interest. For skiers and walkers it provides the opportunity to see a lot of the Alps and visit different places each day.
The Anzere area
The whole of the Valais economy is based on wine growing and agriculture as well as tourism. There are many vineyards and other outlets selling local produce especially in the summer / autumn. Try the local Fendant white wine and the Pinot Noir or Gamay red. In the village there is a range of shops for food, clothes etc as well a number of bars and restaurants (some with sun terraces) and two night clubs. The local supermarket provides everything you need for self catering.
Bars and restaurants we recommend in Anzere are:-
La Telecabine bar (look out the apartment window!)
The pizzeria d’Anzere in the village square
Pas de Maimbre restaurant at the top of the cable car
Bar Peter Pan for watching sport or the bar / salle de jeux bar underneath it for pool / table football.

I had no problems at all with the service. Booking went very well, it was easy to find the apartment; all I did was enjoying my stay at Anzere. The apartment had all that I needed. When it's sunny, it is very nice to sit at the balcony. Anzere is a peaceful, scenic village. It was also possible to take the telecabin, which is just a minute walk away, to 2000m high and hike or do mountain biking. The village had some kind of a summer festival, with its car races on the way to village, wine festival and lots of other activities organized by the local tourist office. It was a great getaway at the apartment in such a village. |
