The North Central Province region

Welcome to Anuradhapura, an archaeologically significant place located in the Northern Central region of the tropical island of Sri Lanka. It is the site of the first ancient capital of Sri Lanka, dating back to the 4th century BC. It is known as the centre of “Rajarata” (the Land of Kings) and the centre of Sri Lanka's earliest civilisation. Fifteen centuries of economic and religious prosperity supported by ambitious dams and irrigation systems gave this treasured city an important standing in the country of Sri Lanka.

The city has many attractions including the Dagabas, tanks, national wild life parks, and religious and cultural landmarks. The city is highly respected for its religious and cultural value. The civilization that developed from Anuradhapura is centred around the tanks, the dagabas and the temples.

There are many important places to visit in and around Anuradhapura. These attractions include the Sri Maha Bodhi, the world's oldest Bo tree, which was grown from a branch of the sacred Bo tree under which the Lord Buddha attained enlightenment.

Anuradhapura

The house, which is conveniently located in New Town, Anuradhapura, provides a comfortable and secure family accommodation at reasonable rates, and is only a five minute drive from the central bus stand and the railway station, providing easy access to shops and markets

The double-storey house was recently built with the ground floor comprising a large living area, an open veranda, two bathrooms and four bedrooms. The first floor comprises a living area, a large balcony, two bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom.

It allows easy access to the sacred city where you can visit all of the significant landmarks in Anuradhapura, including Sri Maha Bhodhi, Ruwanweli Seya, Thuparamaya, Abhayagiriya, Jethawanaramaya, Mirisavetiya, Samadhi statue and Kuttam Pokuna (Twin Ponds)
