With 4000 ft² of space, six beautiful bedrooms and three metre high ceilings, Casa La Sierrecilla comfortably accommodates large family groups or friends exploring Andalucia together. This is first and foremost a luxury family home, decorated and furnished to the highest standards.
The double or twin bedrooms are decorated in tones of blue and gold. They are very ample, providing a luxurious feeling of space for even the largest groups. There are three lovely double bedrooms, two twin bedrooms and one single. One of the double bedrooms is on the ground floor and this, together with the downstairs third bathroom, make Casa La Sierrecilla ideal for parties with elderly relatives who do not wish to use the stairs.
There are also 2 good quality sofabeds (one in the downstairs playroom and one in one of the upstairs twin bedrooms). These are are ideal for children or teenagers.
Two wooden cots (and two high chairs) are available. Thus the house will sleep a maximum of 15 guests plus two babies.
All the bathrooms are very spacious, beautifully tiled and have craftsman-made cabinetry and marble surrounds. The first bathroom is en suite to the master bedroom. The second large family bathroom, with beautiful handpainted tiles, is also upstairs. The third bathroom is downstairs.
Downstairs, the playroom contains plenty of toys, children's books and a huge collection of children's videos and DVD's – the perfect place for an afternoon rest while parents enjoy a siesta! Our baby equipment includes a bottle warmer, microwave sterilizer, baby plates, cups and cutlery, 3 toddler bed guards, lightweight stroller, potties, baby bath, baby monitor and hand blender.
There are two superbly-equipped kitchens with everything for the keen cook. The oak and granite kitchen/breakfast room has oven, ceramic hob, dishwasher, toaster, kettle and fridge/freezer. The adjacent second kitchen has a restaurant-quality stainless steel range cooker, microwave, Nestle Dolce Gusto coffee machine, large fridge/freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board.
The focal point of the villa is the magnificent beamed sitting/dining room, decorated in tones of terracotta and gold, where many of our guests have chosen to celebrate special family occasions.
|Further details outdoors|
The one acre, fully enclosed garden is a wonderful place for children to explore, with an orchard of olive, walnut, almond, pomegranate and fig trees in the front. The rear garden has lawns for playing on and a Little Tikes playhouse for the little ones.
Andalucians live outside during the summer and Casa La Sierrecilla encapsulates this outdoor lifestyle. The poolside bar is the perfect place to prepare al fresco meals which can be eaten on the covered dining area next to the pool terrace. Ample sunbathing terraces (paved with with non-slip tiles) and lawns surround the pool.
The pool dimensions are 8m x 5m and from 1m to 2m deep. Pool heating is included in the villa rental. We keep the temperature at a level that is comfortable for swimming but still refreshing in the Spanish summer heat! The gates to the pool area can be locked to ensure the safety of young children.
At the rear of the house there is a very large covered terrace, ideal for relaxing and for dining outside on the warm summer nights!
Smokers are requested not to smoke inside the villa but are welcome to smoke on the ample terraces.
The Andalucia region
For most of our guests no trip would be complete without visiting one of the great cities of Andalucia – Seville, Cordoba or Granada. For many of our guests a visit to the Alhambra is a integral part of their holiday in Andalucia and we would remind you that to avoid disappointment you should book your tickets in advance (we can provide information on how to do this). In addition, the beautiful city of Cordoba, capital of medieval Al-Andalus, is only 30 minutes away by train. A visit to Cordoba's magnificent Mezquita is sure to be an unforgettable part of your holiday in Andalucia!
The wonderful coastal city of Malaga is less than an hour's drive away or a mere 25 minutes' by train from Antequera's new high-speed station. We love this city for its vibrant atmosphere and its typically Spanish beaches backed by wonderful seafood restaurants, not to mention great shopping and the new Picasso Museum!
We provide many more sightseeing ideas and local restaurant reviews on our own website (you'll find the link at the end of this page).
The charming village of Humilladero is only 1 km away (ten minutes´ easy stroll or one minute in the car) and all basic necessities can be bought in its small supermarkets and grocery stores. Quiet and sleepy during the day, the village comes to life on warm summer evenings as the locals wander through the streets, sampling tapas in the bars and restaurants and children play outside till the early hours! Tapas are still included in the price of your drink here! Only 15 minutes’ drive is the historic and beautiful town of Antequera, with its atmospheric old centre and Moorish castle, not to mention excellent shops and many good restaurants and bars. Golfers will enjoy the 18-hole golf course at Antequera Golf.

"The perfect place for a family holiday"

"Perfect for families young or old"
This is our second trip to the villa and as usual the owners Heather and Bruce were brilliant in pre holiday communication, help if needed throughout the holiday and very efficient at returning our breakages deposit a few days after we got back!
There were 4 families and we stayed for a week, with a mixture of teenage children right down to my 2 year old nephew and the villa catered for everyone perfectly. The facilities are second to none,
The pool is lovely and at night you can switch on the lights and continue to enjoy it. The weather was amazing while we were there so we had no need to eat inside as we used the ample outside areas. The inside is very cool even on the hottest day and very welcome should you wish to get out of the sun.
There are many places to visit, my parents leaned towards the history at Alhambra and we found ourselves at Aqualand in Torremolinos, another must visit is the beautiful town of Mijas.

"Looking for the perfect family villa?"
I feel I need to start from before we arrived as the pre-arrival communication with Heather was excellent. We arrived on a scorching July day and was greeted by Heather's husband Bruce who showed us around not only the villa but the local village and was a fantastic host throughout the week helping us sample the best bars and restaurants - nothing was too much trouble.
We were three families with 4 children aged between 1 and 4 so the gated swimming pool was a real peace of mind and the playoom a godsend during the hot part of the day. As we were traveling with 2 babies under 2, we reqeusted 2 cots to be available - the cots were adorable with lovely linen and cot bumpers - there was even a bottle warmer in the kitchen. The kitchens (there are 2) were so well equipped and the restaurant standard coffee machine meant we have 'real' coffee on tap all week. The lounge remained cool throughout the day and the numerous channels on the TV including CBeebies meant everyone could have some chill out time on the comfy sofas. We never used the dining room or kitchen table but spent all our time outside dining on the covered terrace that seated all 10 of us (including 2 high chairs).
I can't recommend this villa enough - it was perfect for us and we have come home with some great memories.

"Perfect country house for 2 families or extended family"
Large comfortable family home with everything that you would expect in your own home. A perfect house for families with young children as one room is full of books, toys and videos that kept our 3 year old entertained during the heat of the day. Every facility for babies (good quality cots and high chairs + baby bath etc.).
The pool area was excellent with loungers and a seating area and the patio outside the back door was always in the shade.
The local village is a10 minute walk away along a main road which is not too busy though we usually went by car. The village is very Spanish and hardly anyone speaks English but easy enough to get by. Don't be put off if it looks deserted when arriving, between 10 and 12 in the morning it is bustling and after 9.30pm in the evening the streets were full of tables and chairs with all the locals enjoying a drink and tapas especially Thurs to Sunday.
For more shops and restaurants we went to historic Antequera an easy 15 min drive. One has to embrace the Spanish culture in this area as life stops for the siesta and don't expect to eat before 9 pm in the evening.
For those who prefer the coast we were pleasantly surprised to find main train line to Malaga a 5 min drive up the road with station parking. Granada and Seville also available from this station.
The owners were most welcoming and helpful and nothing was too much trouble.
