The house is perfectly situated in a friendly little hamlet which sits between two towns where you can find bars, restaurants, shops, swimming pools and markets. It is also only a few miles from the medieval town and lake of Iznajar, which has its own beach and makes the perfect day trip whether you want to explore or sunbathe. Antequera and Lucena are the two largest towns in the area, each with a wealth of history and attractions, and not much further afield are the beaches of Malaga, the World Class golf course at Antequera, the ski-slopes of the Sierra Nevada, and the lagoon at Fuente de Piedra, where 16,000 flamingos stop over annually on their way to Africa. Whether you want to be active and explore the countryside on foot, bike or horse, or you want to immerse yourself in local culture by enjoying the wildlife, the history and the gastronomy, this is an idyllic holiday destination.

The house has 4 bedrooms (3 double, 1 twin) and a double sofa bed, so there is comfortable sleeping space for 10 people. The lounge is cool, comfortable and quiet, the kitchen is newly refurbished in a rustic Spanish style and the dining room has a mahogany dining table and traditional Andalucían chairs. There are also 2 shower rooms and there is an iPod dock, DVD and CD player and a selection of books, magazines and board games.
The kitchen is equipped with a 4 ring halogen hob, a microwave, a juicer and a toaster. This is a traditional Spanish house and therefore stairs in the house may be steeper than you would expect in Britain and in places you may have to duck! A weekly maid service can be arranged for stays of longer than 7 nights. All linen and towels are provided, except pool/beach towels. A welcome pack is included which contains tea, coffee, cereal, pasta, milk, bread, fruit, oranges (for juice) and water.
While there are a couple of steps up to the front door, the kitchen, lounge, dining room, bathroom and one bedroom are on the ground floor so restricted mobility should not be a problem.

The house has a beautiful inner covered courtyard with a Moorish styled fountain as well as an upper courtyard and a private walled garden. Our land is bursting with almonds, grapes, lemons, prickly pear and figs, and the house is surrounded by olive groves for miles in every direction.
All of the local villages have large well-maintained swimming pools, which are inexpensive, and so nice that we may never build our own!
The Andalucia / Malaga Province region
Perfectly situated in a friendly little hamlet, between two towns where bars, restaurants, shopping, swimming pools, markets etc. are all a short drive away. Antequera and Lucena are the two largest towns in the area, each with a wealth of history and attractions, and not much further afield are the beaches of Malaga (45 minutes), the World Class golf courses of Antequera (25 minutes), the ski-slopes of the Sierra Nevada (100 minutes), and the lagoon at Fuente de Piedra, where 16,000 flamingoes stop over annually, on their way to Africa.
The Antequera area
El Pilar is suitable for families, for those seeking quiet seclusion, authentic rural Spanish life and history, and for those who want to relax yet have easy access the beach, golf, ski resorts or the lovely local towns.
Walking, trekking, cycling, birdwatching, horse riding, are all available.
It's 15 minutes to the motorway, and access to the wonders of Granada (and the Alhambra), Malaga (and the Picasso Museum), Cordoba (and the Mezquita) and Sevilla (and the Giralda).
The local towns boast swimming pools, bars, shops and markets; In Antequera and Lucena there is fascinating history, as well as museums, convents, bullrings and supermarkets!
