Oceanside is a traditional 3 storey former fisherman's house in the popular small town of Anstruther. It is also only 10 miles from St Andrews. The house has been newly renovated and has 3 bedrooms and three bathrooms. It is a relaxing retreat in a lovely seaside town.

Anstruther is a small coastal town in the East Neuk (east corner) of Fife, Scotland, just 10 miles from St Andrews. Oceanside is close to the sea and has been newly renovated. It is a 3 storey house with a lovely master bedroom and en-suite on the top floor and a double bedroom and bunk bed room sharing a spacious bathroom on the middle floor. On the ground floor there is a lounge, dining room, kitchen, shower room and enclosed outdoor courtyard.

The house, Oceanside, lies half way between the historic harbour of Cellardyke and the larger harbour of Anstruther and is about 100 metres from the coast, so it's a real seaside retreat. And for a change of scene, there are lots of lovely other small seaside villages or beaches near Anstruther such as Elie, Earlsferry, St. Monans, Pittenweem, Crail and Kingsbarns.

Anstruther is home to Scotland's most famous Fish Bar, which has won lots of prizes and is a must visit if you like fish and chips! If you are looking for a quiet place to unwind and shut out the world, this is the place for you. However, if you are looking for a home base from which to explore Scotland, then this is also the place for you!

St Andrews:

10 miles away in St Andrews, you can visit the majestic ruins of the 11th century Cathedral and Castle, the University Museum, Botanic Gardens, Cambo Estate Gardens, St Andrews Aquarium and the delightful beaches of West Sands and East Sands.

If you like golf then you are in for a treat: there are 45 golf courses in the Fife peninsula. As well as the famous Old Course in St Andrews, there are also 10 other golf courses in the town. Even closer to Oceanside are many other excellent courses including the Anstruther Golf Course, Craighead Links Golf Course, Crail Balcomie Links and also Kingsbarns featured in October 2012 in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

Oceanside is just off the Fife Coastal Path - a 117 mile trail from the Forth Estuary in the south to the Tay Estuary in the north. The path goes past wildlife reserves, rugged cliffs, along award winning beaches, through small fishing villages and former coal mining towns. It's very easy to walk small sections of this and then catch the bus home, which drops you off just round the corner!

There are several National Trust Scotland properties you can explore nearby including Kellie Castle with its beautiful garden and the 16th century Falkland Palace, a former royal palace of the Scottish Kings, with extensive gardens and the tennis court built in 1539.

Scotland's Secret Bunker is 10 minutes away, Craigtoun Country Park is 30 minutes away, the Scottish Deer Centre is 40 minutes away and Fife Animal Park is 50 minutes away. There are also Cairnie Fruit Farm and Maze in Cupar about 30 minutes away and a Cheese Farm near to Anstruther.

On the water:

Between April and October, you can take a boat trip from Anstruther to the Isle of May, a National Nature Reserve. Over 200,000 sea birds of many species nest on the island - Puffins, Guillemots, Cormorants, Tern, Gull and others. You can also see Grey Seals and Harbour Seals and might spot the occasional whale.

Edinburgh is about 50 miles away, home to Edinburgh Castle, The Royal Mile, Arthur's Seat, Princes Street Gardens, Royal Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh Zoo, St. Giles Cathedral, Greyfriars Church and many museums and galleries. Deep Sea World is near the Forth Road Bridge on the road to Edinburgh.

Dundee is about 30 minutes away - visit Captain Scott's ship RRS Discovery and the Antarctica Museum at Discovery Point. Perth is 1 hour away - see Scone Palace, the original home of the Stone of Destiny and the site of the coronations of the Kings of Scots.

There are children's indoor play centres in Leven, Glenrothes, Cupar and Kirkcaldy, all within 25-45 minutes away. There is also the East Sands Leisure Centre with pool and flume in nearby St Andrews.

If you want to leave the car behind for the day, Leuchars Train Station is a 20 minute drive from Anstruther. From there you can make a day trip to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Inverness, and many other places in between. Visit for train times.

"Pure tranquillity!"

My husband, children (1 and a 3 year old) and myself thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The house is absolutely beautiful! Everything we need for our young children was provided - including a cot and highchair and beach toys :) The bedrooms are spacious and the beds are very comfy. We even managed to sit outside in the evenings and eat dinner. The location is perfect, nothing is too far - we were able to walk to the anstruther harbour everyday (2 minute walk), a beautiful park right on the shore in cellardyke (5-10 minute walk) and a fabulous bakery just at the end of the next street (1 minutes walk)! We are definitely returning next year and can't wait!!!

Thank you so much for your lovely review. We look forward to you returning to Oceanside Anstruther next year.
