The Austrian Alps / Salzburgerland / Salzburgerland region

Annaberg is amongst the imposing peaks of the Dachstein Massif. It is the perfect place to start your Austrian holiday. Quiet, tranquil and perfectly set apart from the hustle and bustle of the usual tourist trap. This all season holiday village caters for outdoor sport enthusiasts as well as nature lovers and those looking for a relaxing holiday set amongst quaint Austrian villages and probably the most stunning Countryside in Europe.

In Winter the Dachstein West Ski Region offers you one of the loveliest skiing areas in Austria right on your doorstep. Even when conditions are poor there are a number of Glaciers for guaranteed snow.

Annaberg is part of the Dachstein West Ski region and consists of 140 kilometres of downhill ski piste and has 45 chair lifts. Ski runs range from very easy family runs to some more difficult black runs. However the beauty of this area are the great number of intermediate runs. In deep snow conditions the sides of the piste make for a powder heaven.

Thanks to a large investment in state of the art snow cannons, the Dachstein West region is able to offer a ski season from December until April.

In Summer the Lammertal offers a hiking paradise that opens up for nature lovers from the Tennen Range to the Gosau Crest. From our apartment you can step out the door and begin trekking. There are numerous walking routes within the village. It doesn’t get any better than walking up to an Alm (working farmers hut on a mountain) and taking a beer and sampling some traditional Austrian cuisine while taking in the fresh air and looking up at the spectacular Alpine panoramas of the Bischofsmütze, Dachstein Massif and the Gosaukamm.

If walking isn’t your thing then perhaps visiting the various lakes in the area will be, from the small quiet lakes in the countryside to the large lakes of Hallstatesee, Traunsee , St Wolfgang etc. There are too many to list. Or perhaps visit Hoch werfen a short drive away where they filmed “Where Eagles Dare” or perhaps pop across the boarder to Germany to visit “The Eagles Nest”. The attractions are endless, there is something for everyone.

Annaberg area

Annaberg is a perfect central location in which to either enjoy all that is around you, or to set off on site seeing. The Old Town (Altstadt) of Salzburg is around only 50 minutes away by car. In fact nearly all places of interest not situated locally are less than an hour away. So just in case you ever feel that you have done everything here (not likely) day trips away are quick and less stressful than other parts of Salzburgerland. That’s why we’re here!

There are many festivals and events throughout the whole Year. In fact too many to mention here. There are also too many places to visit to list here but we can provide you with all this information when you arrive.

Activities include:

Skiing, Cross Country Skiing, hiking/walking, mountain biking, kayaking & canoeing, rafting, canyoning, hydrospeed, paragliding and hot air ballooning. And more besides.

For families with small children there is a children's club (Kinderclub) in the local area which will entertain the children for hours. Our children love it, and it's free. And in Winter there is an excellent creche right by the slopes for children as young as 1 Yrs old.

How to get there

If Travelling by Car

If approaching Annaberg from Salzburg, then follow the A10 south towards Graz/Villach. After passing both the Hallein and Kuchl junctions, take the next exit for Golling. Head along this road towards Scheffau and Abtenau. Pass through Scheffau up the hill until you reach Abtenau. Pass through Abtenau towards Annaberg/St Martin. This whole journey since the motorway is basically straight and so no turn offs have been made up until this point. Once through the village of Abtenau the road will bear to the left but at this point there is a road on the right sign posted to Annaberg/St Martin. Take this turning which has a very sharp bend on the right. This road will lead to Annaberg. We are located just before the sign for Annaberg. We will provide further instructions from this point.

If Travelling by Other means

From the airport take the bus for a short trip to the Main train station in Salzburg. Take a train to Golling. From here you can take a further bus to Abtenau and then Annaberg or take a taxi.

If Travelling by Taxi

From the airport a taxi from Annaberg can be arranged. The cost is approximately €100 which is about £60 depending on exchange rates.

Washing machine available on request. Additional seating may be possible. FAX is also possible but from the main house. It may also be possible to receive emails but again via the main house upon request.

There is also a video and DVD player. We have a vast selection of DVD's available.

Further details outdoors:
The outside of the house has a covered BBQ area with ample seating. There is also a seating area with views of the mountains. In Summer it is surrounded by wild flowers.

There is also a sand pit, slide and swings. It is also possible to use a paddling pool in Summer and access to a play house for the children.

We would prefer no animals but it still may be possible upon request.
