Home description
Located within the private walled grounds of an 18th Century Chateau , ideal for families in a small friendly village with boulangerie ,restaurant /bar and general store.
The stunning 7.5m square living room which was the original kitchen for the chateau has a vaulted stone ceiling and walls with a huge stone fireplace (ideal for those cosy nights in around a log fire). Double doors lead out onto the private patio with furniture.
Off the living room we have the kitchen which was newly installed in 2007, with double doors leading out onto the courtyard.
Close to Angouleme with it's restaurants and 18 hole golf course . In close proximity to Brantome known as the Venice of the Perigord.

The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Charente region
On the borders of the Charente/Dordogne.
On the edge of the village in both directions is a National Park perfect for walking, picnics, cycling, bird watching and general nature watches.
There are many excellent inexpensive restaurants where you can taste local dishes washed down with a glass or two of wine, perfect!
Angouleme / Charras area
Angouleme is the nearest large town where all your shopping can be done. Just 15 minutes away, this historic place is famous for 'Circuit de Ramparts held the third week in September a historic car race around the walls of Angouleme.
The author of the very popular cartoon character Tin Tin lived there a bust of Herge can be found in the centre of town. Even now Angouleme has many talented cartoonists and a cartoon festival is held annually.
There is a wealth of restaurants too many to recommend. The old part of the town is where you will find restaurants covering many nationalities, as well as beautiful Brocantes (antique shops) etc. superb.

Brantome, known as the Venice of the Perigord, a stunning medieval town just 30 minutes away. Their local market is bursting with every stall imaginable.
Cognac, approximatel y 45 minutes drive where Hennessy & Remy Martin's distilleries are based tours are given, recommended.
Future Scope, well it's out of this world. A great day for all of the family, take a space flight, swim with exotic creatures, fly falling and much much more.
La Rochelle, a sea port, hire your own boat for the day, jet ski, eat at many of the seafood restaurants or just stroll along the waterfront with the warm fresh air on your face.
Le Salle de Singes, The Valley of the Monkeys. Visit this woodland island where you can watch monkeys, gorillas, baboons living with their families.
Bordeaux, well, visit savour the wines, cheese, soak up the French at their best.
Combiers, Just 10 minutes drive, if you fancy letting your hair down there is a very popular nightclub suitable for all ages.
There is so much to do, something for everyone.
How to get there
Cheap flights available from Ryanair Stansted to Angouleme 30km (30mins), Limoges 70km ( 70 mins),Poitiers 120km ( 90mins),Bergerac 130km (90 mins). Please check the Ryanair website as there are more routes available.
Car hire is available from all airports. Charras is a 7-8 hour drive from Calais.
Taking the train- Eurostar to Paris, Angouleme can be reached by TGV from Paris.

Further details indoors: Off the living room is bedroom 1 with 2 single beds. Off the living room is the hall which takes you to the fully tiled shower room. Further down the hall we have bedroom 2 with a double bed. Opposite bedroom 2 is bedroom 3 which contains a 4 poster bed a log burning stove and it's original wood panelling and oak flooring. The Master Bedroom has panoramic views of the magnificient countryside.

A refundable £100 breakages deposit is required which will be returned within 2 weeks of departure.
