Home description
This holiday bungalow is perfect for relaxing and chilling out by the new swimming pool and is light and airy and welcoming. It has four good sized bedrooms, a large lounge and a separate dining room, a modern kitchen plus an excellent utility room. There is a shower room, a bathroom with WC and a separate WC.
The mature gardens are stocked with shrubs and trees which are visited by the local birdlife. The house is surrounded by fields - some with cows from the next door farm, some with sheep - there have been farmers in this area for many generations. The swimming pool is south facing and is totally enclosed for privacy. The terrace is large enough for sun loungers and the patio set for outdoor entertainment
Les Balatries is a tiny hamlet spanning several generations of farming families living there. The bungalow enjoys beautiful countryside views and if you are feeling active then this is a great area for cycling and walking. There will be an information book available for you on your arrival, giving information regarding local sights of interest, emergency numbers, recommendations from others re. good eateries and attractive walks.

The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Charente region
The Southern Charente is known for its reliable sunny weather from spring to autumn - some of the best weather in France can be had. It also enjoys just enough rain to produce rivers, streams and a rich, green landscape. Within 45 minutes you can visit the historic town of Brantome (Venice of the Perigord) Bordeilles with its Chateau overlooking the River Dronne. Bergeracs beautifully restored old town and endless vineyards. The interesting city of Bordeaux and the houses of Brandy at Cognac and St Emillion vineyards are a great day out.
Angouleme area
We are a 20 minute drive away from the city of Angouleme, a historic walled city rich in history. This city has several designer boutiques and department stores, lots of different restaurants to try out the local cuisine. There is a Golf course in Saint Severin about 19 miles away. The towns of Riberac and Chalais have colourful weekly markets and Villebois Lavalette has a beautifiul ancient high roofed market place overlooked by its historic fortified chateau. There is a Saturday morning market and you can sit and eat half a dozen oysters (opened at the market for you) and a glass of wine for a fraction of the price you would have to pay in the UK. Then there is the 'Lavalette' restaurant which offers suberb dining for lunches and evening meals - all cooked to a very high standard by the English chef. The local Super U at Villebois Lavalette sells everything from wine, spirits and beer to food and clothing (note our order of priority!!!) At La Coronne 10km away is Auchun (pronounced Ocean) a huge hypermarket with new restaurants and cafes

Patio doors overlooking pool area Utility room: Chest freezer, washing machine, cleaning equipment etc. Bedrooms: 3 of the bedrooms have a double bed, the fourth has a futon plus a set of bunks. All have wardrobes and bedside table.

Further details outdoors: Large grassed area for barbecues, games available includes football table, dart board, pool accessories, tennis rackets/ tennis balls for the local commune tennis courts located at Chadurie (4km) . 2 bicycles available for use. Further details
Smoking is permitted in the garden and outdoor area. We require a damage deposit of £150 to be paid on arrival. This will be refunded within 7 days following a satisfactory property inspection. Bookings to be made by credit card. We require 50% at the time of booking with the balance due 8 weeks before the start of your holiday.
