About the home
Tucked away just behind the High Street in the Sussex village of Angmering, The Cottrells is a bright, modern and private family home that is tastefully furnished throughout by John Lewis. Being in the heart of the village, the local pub, a good selection of restaurants and the village store all within a three minute walk, yet being off the beaten track this house is perfectly quiet.
The Cottrells is an immaculate four bedroom home that the owner has made especially available to us. One cannot fault its presentation and comfort. The modern design offers good sized rooms with broad doorways that maximise the use of light and space. It is exceptionally comfortable and will sleep up to seven guests. There are three double rooms, two fitted with double beds and the third with twin beds. The main bedroom has an en suite shower room and in addition to the family bathroom there is also a downstairs cloakroom. The kitchen is likewise modern, clean lined and fully equipped. Outside the garden is secluded and completely private with sensible planting and a relaxing mix of colour on the eye.

The South East England / Sussex region

Sussex is in the south east of England stretching along the English Channel from Rye in the east to Chichester Harbour and Emsworth in the west with many fine blue flag beaches in between.
The chalk downland of the South Downs National Park cover a large part of Sussex from where they meet the sea at Beachy Head in East Sussex through to the Hampshire border near South Harting in the west.
Chichester is the cathedral city of Sussex and Brighton and Hove on the Sussex coast is considered to be one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Europe. Arundel and Lewes are two historic towns within the county both have imposing castles and are popular towns to visit.
The climate enjoyed in Sussex is above the average for Great Britain, which makes it ideal for visiting throughout the year.
The Angmering on Sea area
This Sussex village has much to offer. There are few villages that still retain a parade of shops, their local store and local newsagent. In addition two local pubs are within walking distance and the Angmering Manor Hotel is just a short stroll along the High Street. It’s all on the doorstep!
Angmering is well placed, close to the coast, close to the Downs. The beaches at Rustington and Littlehampton are within a ten minute drive with Climping just that bit beyond across the estuary of the River Arun.
Climping Beach is a beautiful unspoilt length of beach of Special Scientific Interest and at the eastern end beside the mouth of the River Arun is the West Beach Café at Littlehampton built by local craftsmen using materials sourced locally. It is worth a visit, the fish and chips come highly recommended!
Immediately north of Angmering the South Downs are completely accessible with many fine walks from the neighbouring villages of Patching and Clapham. To reach the South Downs Way there is a steady climb giving views back to the coast while the crescent shaped chalk escarpment at Long Furlong provides most wonderful coastal and downland views over a broad panorama.
Four miles to the west is the historic town of Arundel. It is dominated by the symbolic castle and the rising spire of the cathedral. It offers a plethora of craft and antique shops as well as restaurants and tearooms. It’s a great place to wander and just enjoy its hospitality.
Arundel Castle is the seat of the Dukes of Norfolk and is set in 40 acres of sweeping grounds and gardens. The castle has been seasonally open to visitors for nearly 200 years. It is one of the great treasure houses of England and is home to priceless works of art in stunning rooms. Climbing the 131 steps to the Keep which dates from the 11th century to take in the views over Arundel and The South Downs is definitely worth the effort.
Beyond the castle grounds Arundel Park extends north towards the Downs offering many fine walks. Within the park along the Gallops the John Dunlop Stables exercise their horses daily, which makes for an impressive sight if you can time your walk just right!
The River Arun winds its way around the town and is a magnet for wildlife. With more than 60 acres of ponds, lakes and reed beds, Arundel Wetland Trust attracts some of the worlds most spectacular ducks, geese and swans. The best way to enjoy the river is on a river cruise stopping off at the Black Rabbit pub or proceeding further north where the river hugs the scarp wooded slope at the foot of the Downs before reaching Amberley.
Goodwood and Fontwell racecourses are nearby along with the cathedral city of Chichester with its excellent Festival Theatre noted for not only the quality of productions but also the fact many world premieres are featured as well.
To the east Worthing is three miles away while the vibrant city of Brighton and Hove is within a thirty minute drive.
