Le Stelle Apartment.
from £53 /night help
Apartment | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 2
Le Stelle is in the smaller house of Tenuta Savorgnano known as La Botteghina.. The name means “little shop” and many years ago it served as a trading-post for a collection of hamlets around Savorgnano. The part of the house that became Le Stelle was originally the shop and the stock room. It is the largest of the apartments arranged over two floors with the bathroom and living kitchen on the ground floor from where double doors lead out to a small private patio. The bedroom is on the first floor and is large enough to accommodate an extra single bed. The conversion of the building was carried out to preserve the 18th century features like the original timbers – lintels and beams – and the stone roof tiles. The modern bathroom has a shower, hand basin, toilet and bidet. The apartment is double glazed and has central heating.
The three apartment shares the extensive private grounds, the 12m x 6m pool and the easily accessible car park with the farmhouse. Towels, bedding, utilities and end-of-week cleaning/linen change are included in the price.

The apartment has its own patio with table and chairs for eating outside The garden has several lawned areas for relaxing and areas where you can sit beneath the shade of the trees – plenty of space to find your own corner. There are sun loungers by the swimming pool and pool towels are provided.
Just beyond the garden lies the old village church and in the other direction is the village itself from where you can follow footpaths up into the peaceful hills, as far as the Castello di Montauto if you have the energy! Between Tenuta Savorgnano and Anghiari lies Monti Rognosi nature reserve where there are many footpaths.
The Tuscany region
Tenuta Savorgnano is conveniently located for visiting the major sites of Tuscany and Umbria, so day-trips could include: Florence, Siena, Arezzo, Cortona, Assisi, Perugia, Gubbio, Urbino, Montepulciano, Montalcino, Orvieto and the Chianti region. Arezzo province is more wooded and greener than other areas of Tuscany and also less developed with quieter roads and a more relaxed pace. The provincial capital of Arezzo has a wonderful old town which is home to many good restaurants and antique shops and once a month hosts an enourmous antiques fair - filling the whole of the historic centre.
Tuscany enjoys about 300 days of sun each year and from April through till September you can enjoy eating outdoors and relaxing. July and August are the hottest months, with May, June and September being temperate.
Anghiari is our nearest town, about 15 minutes drive away along quiet country roads. With its stunning city battlements and fairytale towers Anghiari is not to be missed, especially when flood-lit at night. There is a good selection of bars, restaurants and shops. Still very much a lived-in town, Anghiari has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. We may be biased, but we think it has the best pizzeria too!
This area is known as the Casentino. The dramatic wooded hills and small towns make for great exploring. For example the great monastries at Chiusi La Verna and Camaldoli, Poppi with its striking castle dominating the town and smaller villages such as Monterchi and Monte Santa Maria Tiberina. Across the plane from Anghiari lies Sansepolcro, birthplace of Piero della Francesca who's paintings and frescoes can be found in all corners of this region - in Sansepolcro itself at the Museo Civico, the Museum of the Madonna del Parto in Monterchi and his famous fresco cycle 'The legend of the true cross' in Arezzo.
Many local towns host events such as the 'giostra del saracino' jousting in Arezzo and the Umbria Jazz festival in Perugia. There are also lots of food fairs throughout the year, and regular local markets - great for sampling the regional produce. Walking, cycling and horseriding are great ways to enjoy the scenery.

"Heaven on Earth"
A fantastic place. Lots to do and see. Plenty of great restaurants to sample the excellent Tuscan food. The apartment was just the right size for two people and quickly became our home. The welcome hamper was excellent. Thanks for the biscuits Paul !
