About the home
Le Stelle is in the smaller house of Tenuta Savorgnano known as La Botteghina.. The name means “little shop” and many years ago it served as a trading-post for a collection of hamlets around Savorgnano. The part of the house that became Le Stelle was originally the shop and the stock room. It is the largest of the apartments arranged over two floors with the bathroom and living kitchen on the ground floor from where double doors lead out to a small private patio. The bedroom is on the first floor and is large enough to accommodate an extra single bed. The conversion of the building was carried out to preserve the 18th century features like the original timbers – lintels and beams – and the stone roof tiles. The modern bathroom has a shower, hand basin, toilet and bidet. The apartment is double glazed and has central heating.
The three apartments share the extensive private grounds, the 12m x 6m pool and the easily accessible car park with the B&B. Those staying in the apartments for a full week or more receive a complimentary welcome hamper of food and drink so there's no need to shop as soon as you arrive. Towels, bedding, utilities and end-of-week cleaning/linen change are included in the price. If you feel like a day off from cooking or going out, breakfast and dinner can be taken with the B&B guests.

The Tuscany / Arezzo Province region

Tenuta Savorgnano is conveniently located for visiting the major sites of Tuscany and Umbria, so day-trips could include: Florence, Siena, Arezzo, Cortona, Assisi, Perugia, Gubbio, Urbino, Montepulciano, Montalcino, Orvieto and the Chianti region. Arezzo province is more wooded and greener than other areas of Tuscany and also less developed with quieter roads and a more relaxed pace. The provincial capital of Arezzo has a wonderful old town which is home to many good restaurants and antique shops and once a month hosts an enourmous antiques fair - filling the whole of the historic centre.
Tuscany enjoys about 300 days of sun each year and from April through till September you can enjoy eating outdoors and relaxing. July and August are the hottest months, with May, June and September being temperate.
The Anghiari area
Anghiari is our nearest town, about 15 minutes drive away along quiet country roads. With its stunning city battlements and fairytale towers Anghiari is not to be missed, especially when flood-lit at night. There is a good selection of bars, restaurants and shops. Still very much a lived-in town, Anghiari has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. We may be biased, but we think it has the best pizzeria too!
This area is known as the Casentino. The dramatic wooded hills and small towns make for great exploring. For example the great monastries at Chiusi La Verna and Camaldoli, Poppi with its striking castle dominating the town and smaller villages such as Monterchi and Monte Santa Maria Tiberina. Across the plane from Anghiari lies Sansepolcro, birthplace of Piero della Francesca who's paintings and frescoes can be found in all corners of this region - in Sansepolcro itself at the Museo Civico, the Museum of the Madonna del Parto in Monterchi and his famous fresco cycle 'The legend of the true cross' in Arezzo.
Many local towns host events such as the 'giostra del saracino' jousting in Arezzo and the Umbria Jazz festival in Perugia. There are also lots of food fairs throughout the year, and regular local markets - great for sampling the regional produce. Walking, cycling and horseriding are great ways to enjoy the scenery.

Guestbook for Le Stelle
"Spent some days relaxing here and did one local walk through the village and into the hills. Anghiari is a spectacular hilltown. For simple food try Bar Baldaccio - for something more special try Da Aleghieri which was brilliant. Visited Florence and Siena (lively, galleries etc.) and lots of local places - Poppi, La Verna, Caprese, Monterchi, Monte Santa Maria Tiberina - sleepy places, but lovely and nice food. Went to Urbino on final full day. Scenic drive and big historic town with lots to see, do and eat!" Anne & Graham - Ripon
"We just had a wonderful stay and couldn't be happier or more relaxed! For future guests we highly recommend visiting Poppi, Cortona and Anghiari - which must be seen at night! Also, don't miss the wonderful breakfasts. The hosts have seen to every small detail from the ambiance in the cozy room to the delicious food and beautiful place settings. We are so sad to leaving this place behind!" Cora & Kiro - Atlanta, USA
"Due to the hosts and the beauty of Tuscany and the 'Tenuta' had the lovliest weeks holiday ever. Longing to return. ps saw wild boar last night!" Carole & Michael - Harrogate
"Sono Marianna, ho 6 anni. Con la mia famiglia sono venuta a trovare gli zii. Questa casa mi e' piaciuta molto e vi ringraziamo di tutto" La famiglia Ambrosio - Emilia Romagna
