Villa Isychia (which means "Villa of Peace") was built to the designs of Tony Irving, a 'Greek based' English architect, in 2004 some 520 feet up on the hill above Gavrion, the main port of the island of Andros, in the community of Ano Gavrio, some 3 km by road from Gavrion with magnificent views over the harbour and islands of the Aegean to the south.
The villa,135 metres square, with substantial shaded terraces, is set in its own walled grounds of just over one acre, with a mature Mediterranean garden around the villa and pool, terracing around the front of the property and around the pool, with garden table and chairs, sunloungers, and parking area. It is the owner’s family holiday home.

The accommodation, which sleeps up to 6 adults, comprises a reception room with a dining area which opens on to a large sheltered verandah, a fully equipped kitchen and two double bedrooms, both with double bed and own bathroom, including washbasin with vanity unit, toilet, one with bath, shower and bidet, the other with shower enclosure. A sofabed is available in living room and a cot is also available. Both bedrooms have French windows opening on to their own terraces. Air-conditioning units are fitted in both bedrooms. The whole property is well insulated with the main living area equipped with two ceiling fans and a woodburning stove.

From the verandah there are steps leading down to a lower terrace and a swimming pool, 10 by 3 metres, 1 1/2 metres deep throughout. The pool is available from mid May to end of September. Around the property there is a mature mediterranean garden, including bushes of lavendar, bourgainvillea, mimosa, olive and bay trees.

Linen provided, hair dryer, towels for villa use only, sunbeds, local maps, information booklet. The pool is not available for swimming until mid-May or after beginning of October: rental rates are adjusted accordingly.
Conditions
Available for let from 6th April to 1st November from £750 to £1050 per week, the villa can accommodate up to 6 adults (4 in bedrooms, 2 on sofa bed in living room), but is not suitable for small children due to pool depth and terracing. A cot is available for a baby. No pets. A car is essential, readily available for hire in Gavrion, though advance booking is advisable.

The island of Andros, the most northerly of the Cyclades, is two hours by ferry from the port of Rafina, [30 minutes from Athens International airport], the first stop for ferries travelling on to Tinos and Mykonos. It has some of the Aegean's finest beaches.
The Andros Island area
Nearby beaches excellent for swimming, sailing, fishing, windsurfing. Excellent walking in the hills. Musuems in Hora include Archeological Museum, internationally known Museum of Contemporary Art, Naval Museum, the Museum of Traditional Crafts and Byzantine Icons.
Historical points of interest include a number of monasteries as well as archaeological sites around the island of which the most famous is that at The Monastery of Panachrantos / Agios Panteleimon with its library and museum.
Open air cinema, groceries, port, bay, restaurants, tavernas, scenic drives, nightclubs.
Nightlife: There are a number of cocktail bars in Andros which may change their names from year to year. Some of the popular bars/clubs in Batsi include Nameless, Capriccio, Skala and Vraxos. Enjoy a leisurely drink looking out over the harbor early in the night, as dancing does not get started until around 2am.

Ferries from the mainland port of Rafina (half an hour from Athens airport) take two hours to reach Andros, leaving at 7.30/8.00 a.m. and 5/5.30 p.m.

During summer months a high speed hydrofoil taking 1 ¼ hrs also operates. Clients will be met at the port of Gavrion, taken to car rental and then escorted to the Villa Isychia.

We just spent a glorious week in this villa with our teenagers and couldn't have loved it more. It is excellent value for money. As a previous reviewer noted, the villa is MUCH bigger than the photos suggest... though in fact we spent very little time in the vast open plan lounge/dining room, preferring to either loll for hours by the pool (teenagers) or on the delightfully shaded veranda with books & wine (parents). We were warned the internet might drop out occasionally, but in fact we had great connections the whole time. The architect artfully ensured maximum cross-ventilation - there's always a breeze on the hill, and the master bedroom has ac, yet the pool's sheltered from the sometimes-strong north winds. Because this is a well-loved family retreat, all the little details have been thought of: we made good use of the coolbox, carting cold drinks to the many idyllic, deserted beaches. And Ulli was always on call if we had any questions. Getting to the island couldn't be easier, with buses/cabs from Athens airport to Rafina harbour... regular ferries to Andros... and the rental car agencies are right there when you get off the ferry. The villa is well quipped and great for up to 4 persons vacation (family or 2 couples). The location and the view is amazing, just 3 kilometers up above Gavrio. The balcony and the pool facing great view of Gavrio port and the surrounded hills with full privacy. The household and Ulli, are great and supplying all info and help required. Andros island is beautiful, less touristic and enable calm and peaceful vacation. it is highly recommended to rent a car or motorbike and just explore the nature and the beaches. A welcoming and helpful car agency is Anna Vrettou - Eurocars (located in front of the port gate). |

The property will be available Friday to Friday from 6 pm on first day of hire for a minimum of 7 nights. Clients are asked to vacate the property by midday on day of departure.
There are no additional charges.
The rental fees include all utilities, taxes, pool cleaning and final cleaning (extra cleaning can be arranged for a fee).
Reservation is binding once confirmed and 25% of the rental fee deposit is transferred via bank – the deposit is non-refundable. The balance is due 6 weeks prior to arrival. Any cancellation must occur 6 weeks prior to booked arrival date. If cancelled less than 6 weeks prior to arrival date, 50% of the rental fee is payable. The full fee is payable if cancellation is within 14 days of arrival.
