About this location
The Paphos District
Cyprus is a jewel in the Mediterranean offering all year round sunshine, perfect for a holiday at any time of the year. Along with fabulous beaches and stunning island scenery it is stepped in history, tradition and culture. The Paphos district offers plenty of activities for both young and old ranging from sandy beached and watersports, golf, lively bars, numerous restaurants and sites of archaeological interest. Whether you are seeking an active holiday or just want a leisurely break away from it all, our apartment in Cyprus provides the perfect location.
Paphos is a World Heritage site, reflected by the fact it will be the European Capital of Culture in 2017. The main town of Paphos stands on a hilltop overlooking the coastal plain below, where the picturesque harbour is the facoal point of a thriving holiday resort. The main town has numerous shops, restaurants and a daily market. The harbour, situated in Kato Paphos, is guarded by a small moated 16th Century fortress and is lined with open air cafes and tavernas serving fresh fish, mezes and a variety of local dishes. Open air concerts are held here regularly, the highlight being a three day opera event in September performed by world famous artists and singers. Lively bars and clubls are centred around 'Bar Street', a 10-minute walk from the harbour. There are numerous historical places to visit in Paphos, including mosaics and tombs. Paphos has a lovely beach and swimming area near the harbour, and there are lots of beautiful beaches in the area, including the wonderful Coral Bay. There are four international standard golf courses (three of which are within a 15-minute drive of the apartment) within close proximity of the apartment.
The apartment is also an ideal location from which to explore the island of Cyprus. There are daily jeep safaris from Paphos to the Akamas National Park to see 'turtle beach' where the protected Greenback turtles lay their eggs, the Akamas gorges, Adonis falls and the sea caves. The beautiful Troodos mountains are a 60-minute drive where you can enjoy hiking, nature trails, mountain biking and even skiing in the winter months. The mountains are also home to some charming traditional villages, including Omodos and Lania, and a winery tour is highly recommended.
The Cypriots are friendly and welcoming, English is widely spoken and cars drive on the left as in the UK (even the plug sockets are the same)! We would highly recommend it as a place well worth visiting.
Situated on a stylish landscaped complex with two split-level pools and an on-site gym, and furnished to a very high standard, it is the perfect base for a holiday. Based in the lovely village of Anarita, there is a local coffee shop, a couple of bars and three wonderful restaurants. There is also a small supermarket (with a larger one which will accommodate all your needs) only a 5-minute drive away. The surrounding villages - including Kouklia, Mandria and Timi - are only a short drive away where you will find many more restaurant and bar options, some with beautiful sea views.
Paphos airport is just 5km away, and the main town is only 15km away (a 15-minute drive). Three luxury golf resorts are all within 10km of the apartment, including the luxurious Aphrodie Hills, which has breathtaking sea views and lots of other leisure activities available including tennis, horseriding and a fabulous spa. Aphrodite's Rock is also very close and well worth a visit - a beautiful collection of rocks joined to the coast and the birthplace of Aphrodite in Greek mythology.
