Northern Holland region

There is a lot more to Amsterdam than most visitors see of it. Yes the canals and houses are beautiful and you should definitely visit them. But for locals, a lot of things actually happen outside of the center and the main squares.

Amsterdam is famous for its great museums, but offers more than just Anne Frank's House, Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum. A lot of smaller museums, where you don't have to wait in line to get in, will give your visit more color and make you come back with stories none of your friends know.

The same goes for our brown bars. They're awesome, no doubt about that. But if you want to experience the Amsterdam of today, there is a bunch of hidden bars waiting for you just outside the tourist paths.

Shopping; same thing. You can spend your money in the Kalverstraat or the PC Hooftstraat. But maybe you should check out some of the more inspirational concept stores, the Haarlemmerstraat or the nearby Utrechtsestraat.

Amsterdam

The Pijp is located directly south of Amsterdam's city centre and it is part of the borough 'Amsterdam-Zuid'. Most street names in the area are named after Dutch painters, like Frans Hals and Gerard Dou. Everywhere in the area you will find interesting independent art galleries and workshops. The famous and busiest street market of the Netherlands, the Albert Cuyp Market, is in the Pijp. Next to the B&B Showroom is the Gerard Douplein, which has a lot of bars and restaurants, the other insider tips you will get while drinking your welcome cocktail.

The BreakOut Room B&B Showroom is easy to reach by public transport (tram 4, 16, 24 & 25). You can park in the garage Marie Heinekenplein at 5 minutes walking distance. Bikes can be parked in front of the office.
