About this location

The North Holland Province region

Amsterdam is a very well-known city and one of the gates to Europe. Many tourists fly into Amsterdam, stay a couple of days here, and then extend their trip to other cities in Europe. As they fly back home from Amsterdam, some stay a couple of extra days here, just to relax, and see and do what they didn't on the first part of their trip. Of course, you can do it the other way around too: going first to other capitals, and then stay a couple of days in Amsterdam.

Because Amsterdam organises a great number of congresses and other big events during the whole year, we host also many businessmen, musicians, dancers and artists in general. We have great experience with that, so you are in good hands too.

Maybe it's interesting to know how Amsterdam can influence your vacation or business trip - and what to expect from our city and the people.

Amsterdam is a very small city, although there is so much to see. You can walk anywhere in the centre – and by bicycle or boat you'll see a different perspective of everything. Not talking about staying in a houseboat: it's really a great experience (and we have many to offer). Amsterdam is definitely a fun and very friendly capital - and everybody speaks good English! In which other city in Europe can you get that all?

You'll find here an extensive gradient of all: to start with the flowers and the variety of its colours, the tulips and the countless sorts of bulb plants. Just walking on the streets, time will take you on a trip, as history blends it's marks with the future: from architecture to technology; from the big master artists from the past, like Van Gogh and Rembrandt, to the artists who live now here and are producing amazing things – and you can see them working in their own atelier!

Music, all sort of concerts (inclusive on the water !), dance, ballet, theatres, comedy, the Dutch lifestyle, open markets, shopping, excellent restaurants from all kinds of cuisines, night life, the gay life, coffee shops… There is simply so much to choose, to see and to experience.

But if you prefer just to do nothing, Amsterdam is still a very peaceful and safe place to be!

Welcome to our city :-)

Amsterdam

The Windketel is part of a unique complex designed to be a 'village within the city' on the grounds of the prestigious former Public Water Company built in 1900. Gardens, winding footpaths and footbridges connect new dwellings and the impressive industrial monuments of the old water works.

This quiet enclave is only twenty minutes by foot from Central Station. In addition, it is the end of tram line 10, which takes you straight to Amsterdam's four biggest museums and most important shopping and entertainment districts. And the shops, restaurants, open-air markets, cafes and parks of the famous 'Jordaan' district (built in 1612) are only 10 minutes away by foot.

On the neighbourhood are diverse choices of shops, cafés, restaurants, the recent renovated cultural park of the former 'Westergasfabriek' and the famous Café Restaurant Amsterdam is only 30m distance from your house.

For those who come with a car, there is the parking garage 'Westersluis' very close by.
