Beautifully renovated and totally restyled apartment in hystorical building. Located at the city harbour (The IJ), and build on a corner, this apartment is very light, provides a fantastic panorama on a canal and the harbour with its ships, houseboats, and modern architecture of the buildings on the other side. It is like looking at a constantly changing painting, as there is alway movement on and around the water.
This beautiful apartment is a DESIGN apartments in the so called 'Admiral Michiel De Ruyter House' in the very heart of Amsterdam.
The apartment is very tastefully decorated and designed by a famous Dutch interior architect Edward van Vliet who has designed several design hotels in and outside Holland.
At this apartment, orange is chosen as the main colour. That's why we called it the 'Royal Orange' apartment.
You will find all you need to have a comfortable and pleasant stay in this beautiful apartment.
All the important museums are nearby and can be reached by foot, bike, tram or boat. Also the Anne Frank House is nearby, as well as the great shopping streets like the P.C. Hooftstraat. and "the so called 9 streets shoppingarea".
The central station is just a ten minutes walk which makes Schiphol Airport reachable within 20 to 30 minutes.
There is a great variety of restaurants and pubs in the area. So called 'bruine cafés' - typical Dutch pubs - are in great numbers available.
In summer 2008 we will have air conditioning everywhere in the building. Until then there will be no need for that.

The Northern Holland / North Holland region
The region is very easy to reach by bike, or car. The land is, as you might know, very flat and there are lakes, canals, etcetera. The summers can be hot but a rainy day can be expected. In the region, as in the rest of The Netherlands, there are many places of interest. As the country is not so big, and many ways of transportation are easy to use, it is recommendable to also make trips outside Amsterdam if you have the time.
Amsterdam / Central Amsterdam area
Almost everything is close: all important museums, restaurants, pubs, The Anne Frank House, Central Station, bike rentals, boat rentals and tours, parks, cinema's, the zoo, a science museum for kids is just across the harbour. The nearest beaches are in Bloemendaal and Zandvoort. Only appr. 20 km. By train you can go drectly to the beach of Zandvoort.
How to get there
From Schiphol Int. Airport by train. This takes more or less 20 minutes. The Central Station is just a 10 minutes walk to the apartments. From Schiphol by taxi it takes approximately 20 minutes. Do not pay more than € 45,00. Amsterdam is very easy to reach from almost all major cities in the world. It is possible to rent a car at the airport. However, in Amsterdam and Holland the public transportation is well organised.

Further details indoors: Everything is new. You will stay in a very tasteful interior that is the design from the famous Dutch interiour architect, Edward van Vliet. Some of the walls are covered with printed wallpapers that show old paintings from the 17th century. The boxsprings, curtains, chairs and sofa's are all in the same fabric and colour combination.
As the house is build on a corner, there is always plenty to see while looking out of the many windows. The harbour at the front, with it's modern architecture at the sides, old vessels and houseboats. On the other side there is a great view on the canal with it's monumental buildings.
The matrasses and pillows as well as the linen are all new. You can be sure that everything is clean and complete. In the summer, a new airconditioning system will be placed.
You have a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, audio/tv-system that enables you to bring your own i-pot /MP3 player and plug it in the audio system. There are a washing machine and a dishwasher available.
There are two bedrooms. The biggest one has a kingsize double bed. The other one has two separate beds, normal size. They can be put together. You don't need linen or towels. It's all available.
The apartment is on the second floor of the house which is located on the corner of the well known Prins Hendrikkade and the Kalkmarkt. As it is on a corner, it has many windows and for that you can experience great views on two different views of the city.
