Waterfront Canal Villa

Stay in the ambience of Holland's 17th century Golden Age. Just around the corner from a working windmill, this beautifully preserved home was built by a Dutch East Indies captain to house his family while he was at sea. It is centrally located, a mere 7 minute bike ride to the heart of the city with all its museums, restaurants and cafes.. Parking is free! ?The home has canal views, is quiet, quaint and authentic, boasting all the amenities of the 21st century. Your comfortable bedroom has WiFi, a private marble bathroom, a 2nd 1/2 bathroom and a sunny patio. There is a kitchenette with a coffee machine, electric kettle and fridge. Hosts (MD and linguist) are well traveled and friendly. A public swimming pool is located across the street. Facing your home is a large park offering open air performances in the summer. The cafe in the park is open all-year-round. Bike routes abound. Golf lovers have facilities nearby. The local grocery store is a short walk from your lodgings and there is an open air market in the neighborhood. Buses and taxis are close by. Our safe neighborhood, Buiksloot, was originally a separate village that was incorporated into Amsterdam in 1911. Now part of trendy Amsterdam-North, this section of town boasts hip restaurants, cafes, the NDSM cultural hotspot and the new Eye Film Museum/Art Film House which overlooks the harbor. Dine there while enjoying views of the Amsterdam skyline.

"Almost country side feeling"

Visited Amsterdam for congress last Just (2014). Owner was very keen and friendly. We had very warm welcoming. Came at the enough late evening but she waited for as I we would be part of family at las… More

We were pleased to welcome our guests who brought little souvenirs from their country as gifts for us.

One of the charms of Amsterdam is that it lies six feet below sea level. Hence windmills, canals and dikes were built to manage the water.
Our room is in a 400 year old typically Dutch dike villa, which means in the front of the structure there are two storeys, at the back there are three. It is not a basement.
I am so sorry that our guests had allergies. My husband is an MD would have been most happy to treat our visitors had they mentioned this to us.

I swim in our pool every morning. It is unfortunate that our visitors missed this invigorating experience. The city is building a brand new pool right across the street that will be opened early next year for the enjoyment of the public and our guests.

Amsterdam is the city of bicycles. Most of our guests know how to ride a bike and love to rent bikes and cycle along the scenic canal into the city (7 minutes). The bus ride to downtown is only 10 minutes.

Our wifi has been upgraded to high speed. We appreciate the feedback on this.

We are looking forward to welcoming guests from all over the world and want to make our accommodation the best possible location in our area!
