Home description
The apartment is located just outside the old centre yet around the corner from all the attractions Amsterdam has to offer. You could do everything by foot or by bike. Public transport to and from the apartment is excellent.
The apartement has been fully renovated and tastefully refurbished in 2007 and is located on the second floor of a charming building dating from 1916. There is no elevator, only stairs. Everything is brand new and very well isolated. The apartment has high quality furniture and equipment.
The apartment is best fit for a couple. It has a very light living room with a half open kitchen, one bedroom with a double bed, a separate walk-in wardrobe, a bathroom with shower, a separate toilet and a separate storage room. Both at the front and the back there is a balcony.

The Northern Holland / North Holland region
Amsterdam is located in the province of North Holland. Just outside the city you will find interesting places such as the old fishing villages of Volendam and Marken, the Cheesemarket in Alkmaar or you could go to the beach at Bloemendaal or Zandvoort in summer. In april and may you visit the flowerfields at De Keukenhof. As the Netherlands is a small country, you can reach The Hague in only 45 minutes by train or Rotterdam in only 60 minutes. The surroundings of Amsterdam are great for cycling, walking or various watersports.
Amsterdam / Central Amsterdam area
Amsterdam has so many things to offer, you could spend weeks here! Worldwide renowned museums like the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh museum, the Stedelijk museum ( modern art ) and since 2009 also the Hermitage are all to be found here. Amsterdam has plenty of great restaurants and a vibrant nightlife. But, the best attraction of all remains the city itself. Enjoy walking alongside the canals, stroll through the pittoresque Jordaan quarter or the ultra hip Pijp quarter. From april through september there are many outdoor festivals like the Grachtenfestival, Gaypride with its famous Canalparade, and what about Queensday when the entire city colours orange! The best way to get around is by foot (it is a small city, very unfit for cars) or just rent a bike and do as all Amsterdammers do. In summer you can rent a boat or a waterbike and explore the canals yourself.
How to get there
Public Transport from Amsterdam Central Station: you can reach the apartment the easiest way by Metro. Take any Metroline from the Central Station and get out at the 3rd stop, called Weesperplein. From there it is only a 5 minute walk to the apartment. From Central Station to the apartement will take you only 15 minutes all together. For more information on public transport in Amsterdam, please look at www.92920v.nl
Please note that as from september 2009 you will need a chipcard to use public transport in Amsterdam. You can buy these at the Central Station and many other places in Amsterdam. For more information, please look at www.ov-chipkaart.nl
Eventually, you can also take the tram; line 3 stops in front of the apartment. However, tram 3 does not go from and to the Central Station, so the Metro is more convenient.
A taxiride from the Central Station to the apartment wil cost you around € 10,- and will take around 10 minutes. Be careful though; the taxidrivers at the Central Station are renowned for trying to overcharge passengers.
By car; just use your GPS to get to the apartment. Please note that parking is paid and pretty expensive in Amsterdam. You can park in the streets for around € 3,- per hour. Opposite the apartment there is a public garage, open 24 hours a day. It is located under the OLVG Hospital. The charges are € 4.- per hour. The least expensive way to park, is to use the park+ride zones around the city. For only € 6,- you can park for 24 hours and you will receive free public transport to and from the city. For more information of the park+ride zones, please look at: www.bereikbaaramsterdam.nl
