The North Wales / Anglesey region
Anglesey is best loved for it's varied coastal scenery from it's spectacular cliff top views to it's isolated coves, sandy beaches and tiny seaside villages. The dramatic weather and rugged countryside make it an ever changing landscape. The Island is steeped in history with it's numerous historical towns such as Beaumaris, Amlwch, Llangefni and Holyhead. The lighthouses of Penmon, South Stack and the old lighthouse at Ynys Llanddwyn are popular tourist attractions and the beaches at Abberfraw, Rhosneiger & Red Wharf Bay are second to none making them ideal locations for water sports .
There are 5 premier golf courses on the Island plus 4 nine hole courses providing varied options for golfers. Anglesey Sea Zoo, Pili Palas and Foel Farm are perfect for small children and The White Eagle, The Seacroft, The Waterfront, The Harbour Hotel, The Lobster Pot, Olde Bulls Head, Pilot Boat, Ann's Pantry and The Ship Inn are highly recommended for family dining.
The Amlwch / Burwen area
Burwen is a small rural hamlet set on the edge of Bull Bay which has a choice of 2 hotels serving great pub food. The beach and golf course are within walking distance and the pretty fishing village of Cemaes which offers a wide range of pubs, shops, galleries and eating places plus a sweeping sandy beach and access to the Coastal Footpath is a 5 minute drive away. The historical town of Amlwch is a 2 minute drive and has a number of interesting shops, a market and leisure centre. Parys Mountain on the outskirts of Amlwch is home to the Copper Mine Trail and was the world's largest copper mine during the 18th century. The old fishing port in the town dates back to medieval times and offers regular fishing excursions throughout the season. The spectacular coastal footpath runs along the clifftops and takes you to the idyllic hamlet of Llanellian which is popular with water sports enthusiasts.

We stayed here with our 2 young children recently and spent a very enjoyable few days at the cottage. We were very impressed, that when we arrived (10pm at night in the middle of November) the heating had been on making the cottage warm and inviting; there were clean towels; bedding and a pint of milk in the fridge. We cannot fault the cottage in any way - we had everything we needed to make our stay perfect. The interior of the cottage was to a high standard and we loved all the original features. We had all the facilities needed e.g freeview, washing machine, toaster, microwave etc and to the outside, the walled garden and views were just perfect. It was only 5 minutes from the nearest supermarket in Amlwch which was really handy and nearby to Moelfre where we spent a really nice day. Thankyou for a wonderful stay :) |

The cottage was quite nice but did not have many of the items specified. i.e. log fire, window seat, we thought many of the photos were not a true representation. The main complaint was that on our arrival the cottage had not been touched and was exactly as the previous occupants had left it. No contact numbers at the cottage so we had to set to and clean, wash bedding & towels & re-make the beds. No welcome pack. Not a nice start to a holiday you've really looked forward to. When we finally got to speak to Andy Gearing he appeared with many excuses and a welcome pack & also a promise of a complimentary week-end break in another cottage. This never materialised although there was a long barrage of excuses.....beware !! this guy can really talk the talk but as far as we were concerned just never delivered. |
