Home description

Located in southern Umbria (not far from the border with Lazio and 100 Kms northern of Rome), in an area rich in nature and tourist attractions. It is the ideal place in which to spend a quiet and pleasant holiday. The property consists of two houses, situated 60 meters from each other, in a large beautiful private garden with swimming pool. The two houses are only rented together, no other persons live in the houses or use the pool. There aren't other houses directly close to it, so the guests have a lot of privacy. The Old House has been accurately renovated maintaining the original characteristics, and is immersed in the trees The New House, built respecting the typical characteristics of the environment, is situated in front of the pool and has a large covered terrace and a large living room where it is possible to eat all together. Restaurant and 2 grocery stores available in the village of Sambucetole (5,5 Km from the house). More shops are available in Amelia (15 Kms far away).

The Umbria region

In Umbria, a region that has gained a name for being the green heart of Italy, tourism is growing because of the unfamiliar harmony between nature, antiquities, historic centres (the landscape is dotted with many picturesque medieval villages) and culture. In the region immigrants from other countries of the European Union are also settling or buying second homes. The quiet of the countryside, good provisions and an inimitable cuisine are the great draw. Rents for houses are lower in comparison with Tuscany. Main cities to visit: Perugia, Orvieto, Spoleto, Assisi, Todi, Gubbio but there are also many charming little towns and villages.

From southern Umbria, in day trips, it also possible to visit Rome (we advice to go by train) and other charming little towns of northern Lazio (Tuscania, Tarquinia, Bagnaia, Civita di Bagnoreggio and the lakes of Bolsena, Bracciano and Vico) or southern Tuscany (Siena, Montepulciano, Cortona, ….).

Amelia area

Southern Umbria forms an ideal starting point for enjoying the peace of the surrounding hill and mountain landscape and on the other hand making at least 40 trips by car to sparkling towns like Todi, Orvieto, Narni, Spoleto, Viterbo (15 to 40 min.) or Perugia, Gubbio, Spello, Assisi, Tuscania and Tarquinia on the coast with a magnificent little museum of Etruscan art and Etruscan tombs with 2,300-year-old frescos (60-75 min.) or somewhat farther north the Etruscan ruins at Volci. In the more immediate surroundings there are numerous charming little villages - of medieval origin - which are increasingly being renovated for weekend and summer tourism: San Restituta, Civita di Bagnoreggio, Lugnano, Stroncone, Labro (max. 40 min), Montefranco, Arrone, etc. Hard by also lie the vast ruins of the Roman city of Carsulae. You can also easily visit places in the southern part of Tuscany by car such as Siena, San Geminiano, Pienza, Cortona, Senalunga, etc. Many tourists visit Rome once or more times, by car or by train from the stations: Terni, Narni-Amelia or Orte.

And we must not forget the mountains with some splendid woods, e.g. Terminillo (up to 2000 metres by car). In 30 to 60 minutes you can also reach the shimmering lakes of Bracciano, Vico, Piediluco, Bolsena and Trasimeno. The Mediterranean Sea and the sand beaches situated between Tarquinia and Chiarone are 115 Kms away (around 1h30 driving).
