"An unforgettable holiday"
My boyfriends family and I stayed here in Aug 13 and had the most amazing holiday, the house is absolutely beautiful and Helen was a fantastic host, providing fresh vegetables from the garden and a welcome buffet.
The area is stunning, we couldnt have wished for a better location, we were lucky enough to be there whilst the festival was on in Macchie so that was a lot of fun having a dance with the locals!
Rome was only about an hour away on the train so we went there on a day trip and went to the waterfall not too far away but the house felt so much like home that we didnt want to leave it too much and always looked forward to coming "home" after a day out.
I would definitely recommend this accommodation, we liked it so much that we've now bought our own proprty in Italy!

"This is a most lovely place to stay - house, location and 'host' all gorgeous."
The house is comfortable and full of character, full of interesting things to look at. We enjoyed using the big kitchen and it was great that there were several different places, inside and outside, where our group of seven people could sit and eat together. Our 'host' was most thoughtful and kind.
The valley where the house is situated is beautiful with a lovely hilltop view, fine gardens and greenery all round and, when we were there, cuckoo song came from several different directions. The swimming pool is excellent. It is kept very clean and is big enough to make the swimming enjoyable. The pool location is very pretty.
The location is interesting. The nearest hill town is fascinating and there are other good places to visit an easy drive away.
Your comprehensive review says it all. It picks up some of the best points of our location and setting: the house, kitchen, poll, views and nature. Thank you for enjoying it so much and for letting others know what's so good about it.Helen

"Beautiful house in wonderful surroundings"
Recently our family, consisting of 6 adults and four children, stayed at Le Stalle for two weeks. The building itself and its surroundings have that romantic mellow look that one associates with a hide-away in the beautiful Italian countryside, and the house is furnished in a charming eclectic style, full of personal photos, paintings and books, yet nothing is so prissily perfect that the guests feel they cannot relax. Outside there is a larger than average private pool and our children could happily have stayed there for the full two weeks without stirring further afield. There is also a lovely fruit and vegetable garden from which the owner generously supplied us with delicious organic produce. The fact that all five double bedrooms were en-suite was a welcome addition that contributed to making our stay comfortable; it is not often you find a house that sleeps so many without someone having to rough it on a sofa bed. Although the house is comparatively remote, the owners live next door and certainly contributed to making our holiday successful with their warm welcome and kindness, not to mention their help and advice with regard to shopping and outings. We visited Spoleto and Orvieto, both beautiful medieval towns within less than an hour's drive, and of course made many visits to the nearby town of Amelia – smaller, but equally beautiful. I feel I must mention that the house is approached by a rough track, a 'Strada bianca', which, if you drive a jeep or similar will cause no problems whatever, but if, like us, you travel in a small rental car, has to be negotiated with some care. Still, a minor issue compared to the comfort, beauty and tranquillity of Le Stalle.
I thank you for writing such a wonderfully comprehensive review of our place. I'm pleased you liked our eclectic style and attempt to make the style pleasing and comfortable but certainly not perfect. I recognise it's above all a holiday home. A place where guests feel relaxed and at ease relax. And although I clean the pool and surrounds daily I leave guests books and belongings where they are so they don't feel the need to 'tidy' ..but rather feel that for as long as they are here it is their space. Does that make sense?
Sorry about the road. You are right to mention it. We repair it every year but when heavy storms come they do a lot of damage. It's the price we have to pay for living in our Shangrila!

"a magnificant place to stay with fantastic owners"
we started our vacation with a warm welcome from Helen. Some snacks and drinks were put in the fridge. The house is all history, the garden is Helen's trademark (with all his treasures) and the pool is super for the kids and adults. We had a private cookingsession in the large kitchen (who has a big stove and 2 fridges) and learned about the exquisite Italian food. The terras has a wonderful vieuw on the hills. Each room has his own ventilator, nice when the nights are hot. When we needed something,Helen was there to help.Even to go to the hospital when needed...thank you Helen!
I'm pleased with and thank you for your review. It gives me great pleasure too that guests enjoy the garden, the flowers, herbs and vegetable that I share with them. And the pool is indeed a source of fun for all the family:large and spacious it makes for lots of summer fun.

"A wonderful holiday - super property and very welcoming owner!"
We stayed at Poggio Le Stalle for two weeks and had a really lovely holiday. The farmhouse is delightful with all the facilities you could wish for, including the most wonderful swimming pool!! The owner, Helen, is extremely warm and friendly and every day we received a basket of fresh produce from her garden - which was much appreciated! She was also on hand to offer advice regarding any issues.we had during our stay. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone who fancies a visit to the Umbrian countryside!
Thank you for your warm and kind comments. Our summer vegetable crop varies from year to year but we always share the pickings with the guests...from the cherries, figs and plums to the juicy ripe tomatoes, courgettes and aubergines. I plant extra herbs such as parsley, celery and basil for guests to pick if and when needed and the perennial herbs such as rosemary, sage, thyme, lemon thyme, marjoram and oregano are always on tap. This delights guest who cook. Helen

"Great house, lovely gardens and super pool."
Helen couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful. She organised food and drink for our arrival which made for a very relaxed start to the holiday. Nearest village shop is good and there are plenty of supermarkets and restaurants in Amelia. Helen organised for someone to come and make pizzas for us one night - delicious! We were very happy to spend a lot of time at the house and made good use of the table tennis table and swimming pool, , but did manage to fit in a visit to the roman ruins at Carsulae and there are plenty of pretty hillside towns to wander round. Will definitely visit again
Eating and resting times are greatly respected in our locality so when guests arrive late there's nothing open. If I know this in advance I willingly shop for guests so they can settle in quickly and enjoy their stay here from the word go. They just email the list beforehand. And though our village shop isn't open 24x7 (thank goodness), they have a wonderfully complete supply of the best products you can find..including their own meat and eggs. Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Helen

"magical place for people who want to get away from it all and relax"
The house is obviously a home first, crammed full of interesting pictures, furniture and books. The kitchen is very well equipped and you want for nothing. The swimming pool is bigger than it looks on the website and just wonderful to dip into on a hot day. Our family of 3 went there with friends a family of 5, just had the most relaxing time. Cooked simple food, often given veg from Helen,s garden, ate, swam, read and sunbAthed. When we did venture out to Spoletta for the day, Helen,s recommendation, it was really worth it. I would recommend visiting the Casa Romana where you walk into a Roman villa , amazing mosaic floors still intact, in fact in true Italian style you in fact walk all over them!
All in all fabulous week I would recommend to anyone.
Guests often comment on the 'homely' feel of Le Stalle...the books, paintings and furniture combine to give a warm sense of home, different they say, to the sometimes sterile feel of rented accommodation. I'm also told the photos of the pool don't do it justice. I'll try to get better ones! Thank you for your favourable comments. Helen

"Rustic tranquil farmhouse in the beautiful Umbrian countryside"
This is the second time that I have visited and I would go back every year if I could! The farmhouse it is set deep in the Umbrian hillside with uninterrupted views and plenty of space inside and out for a large family or group of friends. The farmhouse itself is well equipped and maintains the charm of what was once a family home. which is filled with character. The pool is a good size with plenty of comfortable sun loungers. Helen the owner is extremely helpful and always on hand for advice and tips on things going on locally.
It would be wonderful if you were to come back every year! it is such a pleasure to greet past guests again.
Thank you for your kind and appreciative comments.

"A beautiful location - perfect for a relaxing holiday"
With bedrooms en suite, spacious open plan kitchen/dining/living area and generous outside dining/sitting area, there is room to relax but to share the fun too. The pool area is great - shade when you need it and ample loungers. Surrounded by beautiful views, Le Stalle is in a really wonderful location.
Indeed, I think it is a wonderful place too...and that's why I love to share it with others. There's a lot of work to do to keep the pool clean, the outdoor spaces tidy, the garden looking wildly unkempt and 'natural' ...but it is all worth it when guests show their appreciation of it, Your comments re-charge my batteries. Thank you. Helen

"Great pool, wonderful hostess!"
Peace & quiet, beautiful view, huge pool & lovely garden. Bedrooms are all en suite, which is great. Have stayed here twice and loved it both times. Helen is a wonderful, welcoming, helpful host & source of invaluable local knowledge.
Guests almost always show great appreciation for the peace and quiet and amazing views we have here. I often forget just how big the pool is..until groups of ten enjoy themselves playing volleyball in it!
I'm always happy to share my local knowledge with guests ....built up over the many years we've lived here. Indeed it gives the people of the locality such satisfaction and pleasure to see our guests enjoying themselves as they explore the village and town of Amelia. Thank you for your comments. helen
