The Cumbria/Lake District
The Lake District National Park is one of the most beautiful areas in England - at any time of year. The Lakes and fells offer breathtaking scenery. Get away from the bustling villages, which are lovely to return to for shopping and sampling local food at the end of the day. The area is ideal for families and walking groups, offering all levels of walking from gentle strolls along the river or lakeside, to extreme climbs.
Restaurants, cafes and tea shops abound in the towns and villages, the perfect place to relax and unwind at the end of the day
The area is famed for sheep rearing, the local breed being the Herdwick, the wool of which is used amongst other things in carpets and loft insulation. The local lamb is truly delicous
There are so many places of interest in the area that you will want to return again and again. The lakes offer boat trips and boat hire. There are numerous National Trust and other properties to visit. Play golf or tennis. Swim at a Leisure Centre
Or why not just relax for part of your holiday, enjoying the fabulous garden and a barbecue
Garside's butcher in Ambleside is recommended as is Matthew's Bistro
