The accommodation is superbly presented, with spacious living / socialising space and a master suite set on a floor of its own. Accommodation in detail
Ghyll Heights is set over 3 stories. A entrance hall leads to the spacious, luxuriously furnished living / dining room, overlooking Stockghyll falls from the balcony. Plenty of dining space for 6. Modern, well-equipped kitchen. The master en-suite double bedroom is on the top floor; crisp and stylish with a romantic skylight. The second double bedroom, twin bedroom and further house bathroom are on the lower level, enjoying a delightful outlook. Private parking for 3 cars outside the property.
This contemporary Ambleside holiday home is only a few minutes stroll from the vibrant village centre, and only a short stroll further from the accessible shore of Lake Windermere.
Ambleside is known locally as the 'gem in Lakeland's crown'. It's a small but lively community where historic buildings such as the much photographed 'Bridge House', and traditional Lake District cottages blend with sophisticated shops, tasty cafes and acclaimed Lake District restaurants, such as 'The Glass House'. Ambleside is also known as the hub for walking and outdoor activities in the Lake District. You'll find hikers' cafes, expert outdoor shops and passionate people just waiting to give you advice on the best walking in the Lake District.
Stroll to Waterhead Pier, and you can catch a Windermere Lake Cruise to Bowness or Lakeside, two other popular Lake District self-catering destinations. A great way to explore without even using your car.
If you fancy exploring the wider Lake District, you're well placed. The A591 connects Ambleside to Windermere village to the south, and heads north to tranquil Rydal Water and historic Grasmere. It's quick and easy to branch off to the breathtaking Langdale Valley, and also Coniston Water. Hawkshead village is also close by, and well worth a visit during your stay.

The Cumbria/Lake District
The Lake District is a place like no other. No other region in the world is so packed with such varied and stunning scenery in such as small area– and it's all on your doorstep with easy access by car or rail. The choice of outdoor activities is endless with some of the best walks, climbs and bike rides in the world, beautiful lakes for sailing, canoeing, windsurfing or just a cruise one of several ferry services. The National Park itself encompasses soaring mountains, native woodland (you might see a red squirrel!), lush meadows and of course the many famous lakes themselves. Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter, Ruskin and many more have been inspired by the Lake District and made their homes here. The homes are still here and open to visit and they too are surrounded by majestic mountain panoramas. There also some surprises – kids will love attractions such as the giant i-max screen at Rheged Visitor Centre, Go Ape aerial activities in Grizedale Forest and The World of Beatrix Potter in Bowness. And where better to stay than a classic Lakeland Cottage. Lakelovers have over 400 properties in prime locations within the heart of the Lakes and we specialise in hand-picked properties that we know you'll love. Whether you want a grand property for a family gathering or a cosy bolt hole for two we can't wait to show you what we have for you to choose from. We know The Lakes inside out and we are just a click of a mouse or a phone call away.
