'Windows' are certainly the theme of this superb central Ambleside apartment; spacious, contemporary, flooded with light and boasting fabulous views over the village to Lake Windermere and our majestic fells. The stylish open plan living space is a dream for sociable gatherings; chocolate leather furnishings sit on stripped wooden floors, formal dining space enjoys open access to the designer kitchen, and all this is surrounded by an array of almost floor-to-ceiling windows. Nestled on the northern shores of Lake Windermere at the heart of the Lakes, Ambleside is a charming historic village that has grown to become one of the most vibrant destinations in the region. Part of Ambleside's appeal is its location; enjoying the tranquility and activity of Lake Windermere's shores (lake cruises depart just outside the village centre), but also the dramatic backdrop of our Lakeland Fells and mountains (Ambleside is renowned as a hub for walkers and outdoor enthusiasts). It's easy to see why so many return year after year and why so many long to make their home here!
In the village centre, explore tempting cafes and a wide range of shops - everything from local craft to expert outdoor clothing. Ambleside is home to two cinema venues and several acclaimed Lake District restaurants - along with the wonderful country pubs in the surrounding area you'll be spoilt for choice. Special evenings out or romantic occasions…all are catered for within the village centre.
Within walking distance of Ambleside village centre is Waterhead Pier; the departure point for Windermere Lake Cruises. With regular departures throughout the day, you'll find the elegant 'steamers' or smaller launches a perfect way to explore without a car. The boats travel the full length of the lake, with stops at Bowness and Lakeside.

The Cumbria/Lake District
The Lake District is a place like no other. No other region in the world is so packed with such varied and stunning scenery in such as small area– and it's all on your doorstep with easy access by car or rail. The choice of outdoor activities is endless with some of the best walks, climbs and bike rides in the world, beautiful lakes for sailing, canoeing, windsurfing or just a cruise one of several ferry services. The National Park itself encompasses soaring mountains, native woodland (you might see a red squirrel!), lush meadows and of course the many famous lakes themselves. Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter, Ruskin and many more have been inspired by the Lake District and made their homes here. The homes are still here and open to visit and they too are surrounded by majestic mountain panoramas. There also some surprises – kids will love attractions such as the giant i-max screen at Rheged Visitor Centre, Go Ape aerial activities in Grizedale Forest and The World of Beatrix Potter in Bowness. And where better to stay than a classic Lakeland Cottage. Lakelovers have over 400 properties in prime locations within the heart of the Lakes and we specialise in hand-picked properties that we know you'll love. Whether you want a grand property for a family gathering or a cosy bolt hole for two we can't wait to show you what we have for you to choose from. We know The Lakes inside out and we are just a click of a mouse or a phone call away.
