"A quiet spot in the sometimes v busy ambleside"

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, we're happy that you enjoyed Gale Hill Cottage. Yes it is in a great location for easily accessing all that Ambleside offers, whilst also being quiet and private. When unloading your car you can pull up at the bottom of the pedestrian hill where the road is wide enough for cars to easily pass by. Otherwise there are the free spaces around the Market Hall and on Stockghyll Lane. You can also use our parking permit for free parking in the South Lakes (Ambleside, Bowness, Kendal, Grasmere, Windermere, etc). We should mention that as well as the skylights there are also two windows in every room except for the bathroom which has just one window. I don't think I have ever seen a traditional Lake District cottage which was light and bright simply because they were not designed and constructed in the same way as modern developments, thank goodness :-)

"Perfect holiday cottage"

Thank you Neil and Katherine for providing such a beautiful holiday cottage. It is in the perfect location for us. All the restaurants and shops were only a minute or two walk and it was a very quiet part of Ambleside because there wasn't any traffic outside the door. Gale Hill Cottage is a good size for two people and there was space for all our belongings and all that we bought. The little cloakroom is such a good idea and all our walking gear dried out there in time for the following morning. The bedroom is beautiful and the living room is lovely and the fireplace is amazing. We are already looking forward to returning in September.
