The Cumbria/Lake District
We love the Lake District and wouldn't want to live anywhere else. For lovers of beautiful scenery and outdoor activities it is unrivalled in England. Combine the sumptuous landscape with the fascinating villages and important cultural history and you can see why the Lake District is many peoples favourite part of the UK.
Wordsworth's Dove Cottage is just a 10 minute drive away in Grasmere, and Beatrix Potter's house is not much further, near the delightful village of Hawkshead. You are also well placed to explore the picturesque towns of Keswick, Bowness and Windermere, all within a half hour drive. Windermere Lake Cruises operate frequent steamer services from Waterhead, at one end of Ambleside.
