About the home

The self catering accommodation includes: Beamed living room with living flame gas fire (with back boiler for hot water and central heating), easy chairs and colour TV from satellite dish. Separate dining room. Modern fitted galley kitchen with gas cooker, microwave and fridge. 2 bedrooms, 1 with double bed and 1 with twin beds, plus duvets. Bathroom with coloured three piece suite, shower hose, airing cupboard.

Washing machine in outhouse. Private parking space. Secluded sunny area at rear with bench for sitting out. Outside lean-to for bicycles.

The only extra cost apart from the rent would be for linen hire if you wanted us to make up beds (£12 double, £8 single). We provide duvets and pillows, plus tea towels anyway. Gas and electricity are included in the rent.
Short breaks out of school holidays are available on a sliding scale of the weekly rent: 2 nights, 50%, 3 nights 60 %, 4 nights 70%, 5 nights 80%, 6 nights 90%.

The Cumbria/Lake District region

Ambleside is at the centre of the Lake District National Park, and our cottage is very close to the centre of Ambleside, so it's very convenient to explore the Lake District from here, north, south, east and west. You can walk from the door on several circuits:e.g. High Sweden Bridge 90 minutes, Todd Crag with lovely views over the lake 90 minutes, Wansfell Pike to Troutbeck and return via Jenkins Crag 3 hours, Grasmere via Rydal park and Rydal Water 4 hours, Fairfield Horseshoe 6 hours.
There are several stately homes for a day trip out including Muncaster Castle, Levens Hall, Sizergh Castle

The Ambleside area

Take a boat trip from Waterhead (20 minutes walk) over to Wray Castle, then Brockhole and disembark at each for a stroll by the lake shore. Brockhole has good childrens' play area too and cafe.
You can take longer boat trips from Waterhead, Ambleside to Bowness and the southern end of the lake.
You can also take boat trips on the steam driven Gondola on Coniston, and on feriies which run from Glenridding on Ulswater over to Howtown for a 4 hour walk back, or to Pooley Bridge.
The park in Ambleside has a good childerns' play area
If it's wet use the playbarn in Ambleside to amuse your children, or visit Zeffirelli's 5 screen cinema.

“Fabulous Little Cottage” A lovely cosy cottage, wonderfully located on a quiet side street one minute from the town centre. It is well equipped; has everything you need. Super value and we very much hope to come again soon.
