Although this cottage is spacious it still retains a cosy rustic charm with a liberal peppering of original beams and exposed slate walls. To take advantage of the spectacular views over Loughrigg to the Old Man of Coniston, the living room and kitchen areas are upstairs. Off the large entrance hall there is a very spacious double bedroom with en-suite shower room. The stairs lead up to the bright and airy lounge, which features solid pine flooring, a slate fire place and exposed stone walls.

Freesat TV and a wireless internet connection are provided for your convenience, along with a DVD player and CD stereo. The kitchen and dining area has been handbuilt by local craftsmen out of old pine, and is equipped with all the facilities you would expect to find in a modern kitchen, including a dishwasher.

To the rear of the cottages there is a secluded garden with fantastic views to Wansfell Pike, which dominates the skyline. The garden has seating and a BBQ area. Grove corner is ideal for couples and small families who like to 'spread out' whilst on holiday.

“Lovely group of cottages set in spectacular location with breathtaking views” The spacious cottage is one of five located in a valley and set in rural countryside approximately 1 mile from Ambleside with ample parking and is very safe for young children. On arrival there was a vase of fresh flowers, milk in the fridge, a range of sachets for drinks and a plate of biscuits which we thought was a very nice touch. The cottage is upside down so the lounge and kitchen/diner are upstairs. The views are spectacular. The decor is very pleasant, in keeping with a country cottage, pine and squashy settees which are comfortable and homely. The facilities are very good. The log burner in the lounge is electric but is a nice feature. The kingsize bed was very comfortable. The en-suite is well-appointed, all towels and linen are provided, the shower is very efficient and there was always plenty of hot water. We found the use of free wi fi very useful. All the furnishings and fittings are of good condition. There is a back door leading to a pretty shared patio area. The Information Room is full of brochures with ideas of things to do and places to go. There are many walks you can do from the cottage without using your car. It is an excellent location for exploring The Lake District. The scenery in Autumn is magnificent. A little expensive but worth it.

“Breathtaking setting but a fairly long walk from Ambleside” Great little place, with stunning gardens and views over Ambleside and the surrounding peaks. Well furnished, clean, cosy. It is a good 40 minute walk uphill from Ambleside to the cottages though, which is the only downside if you want to go out for dinner etc etc

“Fantastic tranquil holiday” We stayed at Grove Corner for one week and then Middle Grove for another week. It really is a fantastic place for me to clear my mind, enjoy the fresh air, and enjoy Lakes District. The cottage is on top of a hill at the end of a road and there's no traffic. The only sound you hear is the occasional "baa" from sheep grazing, and birds chirping. At night we enjoyed just sitting outside and chatting. There's a small stream that runs through the property. Booking was easy via http://www.grovecottages.com , and the people running the place were very helpful. The cottages are complete with a kitchen, LCD TV, DVD player, satellite TV, washer/ dryer and the thing I like most is the high speed wifi internet connection. This place is really unique, and it really deserves its place as the Number 1 accommodation in the area on Trip Advisor.

“Fabulous car free walking base to explore Ambleside and beyond” Grove Cottages are a delightful conversion of an old Lakeland farm and outbuildings perched above Ambleside and over looking the Kirkstone pass. The quality of the accommodation is first class, as is the service you get, either on fthe phone, direct or on line. The location, combined with staying on a farm was the real attraction for us (the owners are busy repairing an old field barn). It measn you can arrive by car if you choose, and then leave it all week and just walk from the cottages without ever doing a walk twice.

“Just perfect!” Fabulous location with stunning scenery and absolute peace and quiet. We had a wonderful week here in spite of pretty terrible weather. This is pretty much the place I have hunted for for years and failed to find as some more unscrupulous holiday companies are a little less honest with their descriptions. Not Grove Cottages I am pleased to say. Everything was as described and the staff were warm, welcoming and helpful. We stayed in Grove Corner which was very private, clean, well appointed and had absolutely everything we needed. We had trouble prising ourselves off the extremely comfy sofa as we were pretty burnt out when we arrived. After a few days in the fresh air and the tranquility of Grove Cottages in the evenings, we both felt refreshed and relaxed - exactly what we needed. Lots of walks available immediately from the cottage so no need to get in the car if you don't want to. Ambleside is easily walkable but we would recommend a car or taxi if you are in a hurry or want to get dressed up to go out.

“A wonderfully homely cottage in a stunning setting” An absolutely superb accommodation : spotless,extremely comfortable and lots of extra home comforts including a pile of fluffy white towels,and hidden extras like the cafeterie,dishwasher,CDs,flowers,biscuits and even some party-poppers and candles!! The scenery from the cottage and pretty garden is stunning - and walks from the accommodation are memorable.

“Beautiful location - ideal centre for exploring the Lakes” Beautiful, peaceful location just outside Ambleside - an ideal centre for easy access to all areas of the Lakes or, alternatively, for walking various routes directly into the hills from the cottage. Lovely welcome and very comfortable cottage. Would thoroughly recommend, and look forward to returning in the future.
