Although this cottage is spacious it still retains a cosy rustic charm with a liberal peppering of original beams and exposed slate walls. To take advantage of the spectacular views over Loughrigg to the Old Man of Coniston, the living room and kitchen areas are upstairs. Off the large entrance hall there is a very spacious double bedroom with en-suite shower room. The stairs lead up to the bright and airy lounge, which features solid pine flooring, a slate fire place and exposed stone walls.
Freesat TV and a wireless internet connection are provided for your convenience, along with a DVD player and CD stereo. The kitchen and dining area has been handbuilt by local craftsmen out of old pine, and is equipped with all the facilities you would expect to find in a modern kitchen, including a dishwasher.
To the rear of the cottages there is a secluded garden with fantastic views to Wansfell Pike, which dominates the skyline. The garden has seating and a BBQ area. Grove corner is ideal for couples and small families who like to 'spread out' whilst on holiday.

The Lake District
The Lake District - from dramatic fells to sleepy shores, this is nature at its most inventive. With England's five tallest mountains and deepest lake, two national parks, three areas of outstanding natural beauty and a wealth of flora and fauna, Cumbria's rich natural environment is simply unique. The landscape is a real wonder of nature. Impressive peaks rise grandly, reflected in still waters. At their feet, intriguing valleys lie waiting to be explored.
There is also a social landscape to explore that has been formed over thousands of years and continues to be shaped by modern culture. From poignant ruins and drover trails to local legends and literary works, the region's history and heritage has played a defining role in the county's identity. But in recent years, another dimension has been added to Cumbria's unique personality in the form of contemporary theatre and dance, street art and state of the art galleries .
Ambleside, at the head of Windermere and the foot of the Kirkstone Pass, is in the very heart of the Lake District with easy access to Grasmere, Keswick, Windermere and the Langdales.
There are numerous activities close by including:-
-Grizdale Forest – walks, mountain biking and Go Ape
-Langdale Valley - great for walking
-Windermere, Coniston & Ullswater – kayaking, sailing and boat trips
-Hill Top – the home of Beatrix Potter
-The Aquarium and Steam Railway at Lakeside
-Brockholes National Park Centre
-Huge range of shops and restaurants, plus 3 cinemas in Ambleside.

"A great location, but lacks attention to detail for true 5 star accommodation"
We stayed in Grove Corner in July 2015. The location, about a mile out of the centre of Ambleside up a farm track is very peaceful and there are lovely views. This property has the bedroom downstairs and the living accommodation upstairs. It is spacious for 2 people or a couple and a small child. There is a lovely view of mountains from the living room. The bedroom is really generous in terms of size, it is rather cold and dark, which was an advantage the week we stayed as it was hot, but I can imagine different in winter. Prices are top dollar but we found that it lacked absolute attention to detail in some respects, for example only a winter weight duvet was offered in the hottest week of the year, the lock on the main door was very difficult to operate, the dishwasher was tiny. Niggly things, but at over £500 for the week we expect perfection and have found it elsewhere. There was a member of staff, but they were only available during the day when most guests are out. Having said that we would go again if our no 1 choice was not available, mainly due to the lcoation.

"A great holiday in Ambleside"
It was a comfortable, clean and well equipped cottage. Small details were not forgotten, a welcome pack, tablets for the dishwasher, a tray for muddy boots. Will definitely return.

"A peaceful, cozy home-from-home. Close to Ambleside but feels like you're way up in the Fells."
My partner, our 11 month old and I have just spent a week in Grove Corner Cottage. It was perfectly located for a break touring the better-known areas of the Lakes. There were plenty of attractions suitable for young children within close striking distance, including some beautiful short walks (some even suited to prams). Ambleside is just the right distance away - very accessible for the shops, cafes, restaurants etc, but far enough to make you feel like you're away up in the Fells...especially when you wake in the morning and can hear nothing but the bleating of the sheep and you watch the swifts darting about outside the window. The cottage itself is extremely well appointed and really comfortable. The weather was very changeable whilst we were there; we found the accommodation made a great retreat when the rain and wind came in, but was also light enough to make the most of the sunshine and fantastic views when we were treated to some more clement conditions. We also found that we had all the equipment we needed to accommodate our baby, including stair gates, baby bath and highchair. Moreover, the efficient manager of the cottages was on-hand to help out if we needed anything (such as when the Wi-fi went down). There really was very little to complain about...just wish that we had been able to get perfect weather every day of our holiday, but that's a big ask for the Lake District!!

Comfortable cottage in a great location. Walks from the doorstep, and all the amenities of Ambleside either a short drive, or an energetic walk away.

"Very high quality accommodation in a beautiful location"
This cottage is very well furnished and equipped for self catering. The location is near enough to Ambleside to make it readily accessible yet out of the bustle of a popular tourist centre. The views from Grove Farm are fabulous and the cottage provides the opportunity to walk from the door step on to the fells surrounding. for both long and short walks. Having wifi was an added and very welcome bonus.

"Lovely stay at the stunning Grove Cottages"
Grove Cottages are based near Ambleside, though I would say you need a car as they're a little drive out of the town centre, up some rather steep hills. When you arrive it's one of the most picturesque views I've ever seen, really stunning. We stayed in Grove Corner with a double bedroom and ensuite and a lovely little lounge and kitchen area upstairs. The cottage had everything we needed and the location was amazing. We spent quite a bit of time sitting on the bench in the front garden overlooking the hills and reading our books. The information room and guest book was filled with lots of useful information and recommendations about where to go and what to do. The owners made sure we had everything we needed and we'd certainly love to return in the future.

"Everything we wanted"
We stayed at Grove Corner for a week with our 10 week old baby. The location is stunning with beautiful views of the hills around town, but also convenient - Ambleside is a 5 minute drive or a 30/40 min walk. The setting - a farm - is idyllic. It is immaculately clean and very tastefully decorated. The booking process was easy and the manager was very helpful. We were sad to leave!

"The perfect base from which to explore the Lake District"
This is the second time that I have stayed at Grove Cottages and hopefully I'll get the chance to go back again. Great facilities and a great location.

"Lovely group of cottages set in spectacular location with breathtaking views"
The spacious cottage is one of five located in a valley and set in rural countryside approximately 1 mile from Ambleside with ample parking and is very safe for young children. On arrival there was a vase of fresh flowers, milk in the fridge, a range of sachets for drinks and a plate of biscuits which we thought was a very nice touch. The cottage is upside down so the lounge and kitchen/diner are upstairs. The views are spectacular. The decor is very pleasant, in keeping with a country cottage, pine and squashy settees which are comfortable and homely. The facilities are very good. The log burner in the lounge is electric but is a nice feature. The kingsize bed was very comfortable. The en-suite is well-appointed, all towels and linen are provided, the shower is very efficient and there was always plenty of hot water. We found the use of free wi fi very useful. All the furnishings and fittings are of good condition. There is a back door leading to a pretty shared patio area. The Information Room is full of brochures with ideas of things to do and places to go. There are many walks you can do from the cottage without using your car. It is an excellent location for exploring The Lake District. The scenery in Autumn is magnificent. A little expensive but worth it.
