This is a luxury Scandinavian Style lodge within the Langdale Estate on the edge of Elterwater village in the Lake District.

The lodge is furnished to high specifications.

The accommodation is arranged two floors. There is 1 bedroom with twin beds. There is a separate bathroom with bath and shower and toilet/sink.The living area is open plan, with leather sofas and chairs, a breakfast bar, a TV and DVD player. The well-stocked kitchen area has a dishwasher, fridge/freezer, hob, full oven and microwave. There is a double pull-down bed in the living area. This bed has a very comfortable mattress and all bedding is provided. It is much more than a sofa bed :-)

The hallway contains a large drying cabinet, ideal for dealing with wet clothes and swimming kit. There lodge is positioned on the middle of the estate, near the hotel and leisure center an spa. There are 2 car parking spaces provided outside the door of the lodge.

The rental starts at 4pm on Saturday March 1st 2014 and ends at 10am on Saturday March 8th 2014. This can be a lovely time to visit as Spring is just about to spring.

The Langdale Estate itself is positioned in the Langdale valley between Elterwater and Chapel Stile, an excellent location for fell-walking and not far from Ambleside for a wide range of amenities. The estate includes 4 excellent eateries, the popular Wainwrights Inn, serving heartwarming traditional pub grub, A 2AA rosettes restaurant, "Purdeys" for those special occasions, The "Terrace Restaurant & Bar" with a Josper Oven for Pizzas and other cooked goodies and "Hobsons Bar" for a leisurely drink and a lovely snack or smaller meal. The leisure area includes a spa with indoor swimming pool with separate toddler section, Jacuzzi and steam room and fitness suite, which are available free for your use during your stay. Many other activities are organised by the Langdale Club for adults and children from museum visits to kayaking, for a separate fee payable on site. Offsite a couple of minutes walk away is another pub "The Britannia" serving more real ales and good food and "The Eltermere Inn" offering real ales and gorgeous food. Chapel stile is around half a mile away where you can find The Co-Op which stocks lots of food and other items as well as having a cafe on the top floor.

Although the lodge doesn't have a washing machine, there are coin-operated-washing machines available at the club.

Please note that the lodge is a timeshare property, which is why it is only available for the week 9 in March. We have owned this happily for many years but are not able to use it in 2014 and 2015 which is why we are offering it for rent as we have to pay the annual maintenance charge regardless of whether it is used or not. Therefore, we have to have a strict cancellation policy on any rental to make sure we don't end up out of pocket. In addition to the rental price, you will have to settle up for your utility bills at the end of your stay. This usually costs us about £30 for the week in March. Everything you need for cooking is provided in the lodge however there is NO food, you have to bring your own or buy it when you get there.

There are many interesting locations around the estate that reflect the history and local landscape as well as the current development and its owners. Of particular interest is the Memorial Cairn, whilst Founders Seat offers the best views of the Langdale Pikes on the Estate. The Gazebo on the lawn opposite the Spa is licensed for civil wedding ceremonies.

There are many historic points of interest around the Estate which are relics of past uses including as a Gunpowder Works and before that a Mill. Details can be seen on the main Langdale website, and there is a gunpowder walk guide available from reception and online.

Great Langdale is a valley in the Lake District National Park in the county of Cumbria, in the northwest of England. It is often simply referred to as Langdale, the "Great" distinguishing it from the neighbouring valley of Little Langdale.

Great Langdale is where you can find the Langdale Pikes. Scafell Pike, can be climbed by a route from Langdale although it is quite a hike. Langdale has spectacular views of many fells and tarns including Dungeon Ghyll Force waterfall, Harrison Stickle and the Pike O' Stickle. Langdale's highest fell is Bow Fell. Other notable Langdale fells are Crinkle Crags, at the head of the Oxendale valley, and Pike O'Blisco on the southern side of the valley.

For those not keen or unable to do high routes or if the weather is particularly inclement there are lovely lower level walks around Elterwater and Elterwater Tarn, Skelwith Bridge, Ambleside and Little Langdale and along the Great Langdale Valley to Mickleden.

There are a number of popular fell walking routes include Bowfell, Crinkle Crags, the Langdale Pikes and England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike. There are also rock climbing spots on the valley floor, such as Raven Crag, Gimmer Crag and White Ghyll, providing some of the most spectacular rock routes in the UK.
