La Mela Rosa is a 200 year old, tastefully renovated, stone farmhouse set in the foothills of the magical Sibillini Mountains in the least known, but most beautiful region of Italy, Le Marche.

The house, set in 2 hectares of land, has a garden with a swimming pool, a meadow with walnut, cherry and plum trees, and a wood of hazelnut trees. Wildlife abounds - pheasant, small deer, porcupines, pinemartins and the very occasional hedgehog as well as hawks, swallows and lots of other small birds.

There are two double bedrooms and one triple (queen size bed and a single bed) each with an en suite with a large shower. The rooms are light and sunny with a view of the rolling hills. There is a terrace leading off the third bedroom. Outside the bedrooms there is a small sitting room plus a much larger living/dining room downstairs adjacent to the kitchen. A large terrace leads off the living room.

The kitchen was designed for those who like to cook - an Ilve stove with 6 burners and 2 ovens, plenty of bench space with a granite/resin surface that will take a hot pan straight from the oven or hot plate, double sinks and dishwasher.

Being stone, La Mela Rosa is very cool and, even on the hottest day, it is rare for the inside temperature to go above 25°C. Being close to the mountains, the day cools quickly as the sun sets, making evening dinners on the terrace a delight.

Situated 5kms from the medieval village of Amandola on a quiet, country road La Mela Rosa is the ideal place to relax, unwind and live the Italian way in unspoilt Italy. If you prefer to be active then go cycling or walking in the nearby mountains, hunt for truffles, go trekking with donkeys, swim in beautiful Fiastra Lake, learn to make paper or handmade pasta, go horse riding or rent a canoe on San Ruffino Lake, visit the artisans and buy some ceramics, a handbag, maybe some sandals. There's even white water rafting just over an hour away! For those who love history and art, there is Pinacoteca Duranti at Montefortino, the Crivelli tryptychs in San Martino Church in Monte San Martino, the Romanesque churches tour in Ascoli Piceno as well as its Ceramic Museum and Modern Art gallery and lots more!

The Marche/Abruzzo region

Amandola, the closest village to La Mela Rosa, is in Le Marche, the least-known but most beautiful and unspoilt region of Italy. About 50kms from the Adriatic coast, 12th century Amandola is part of the Sibillini Mountains National Park. Mostly a farming community where the local people are friendly and welcoming and the bar and restaurant prices are modest.

La Mela Rosa is situated on the outskirts of the village of Amandola in the foothills of the spectacular Sibillini Mountains. You are surrounded by rolling green hills, patchwork fields with a backdrop of the mountains. It is an ideal place for walking, mountain bike riding, photography, truffle hunting - white, black or the summer ones, exploring the medieval hilltop villages, swimming in crystal-clear Fiastra Lake, having a cooking class or just relaxing with a book.
