This newly converted 300-year-old stable accommodation in a traditional farmhouse combines many original features with up-to-the-minute modern convenience. The south-facing private garden terrace has stunning views of lake and mountains. A table and chairs for al fresco dining and comfortable lounging chairs make it the perfect spot to relax and unwind. The 5-metre above-ground swimming pool located on a separate terrace is perfect for cooling down after a long day's sightseeing or hiking. La Mirabella is a great base for walkers/hikers/bikers and is just 40 minutes from Adriatic beaches and designer outlet shopping.
The apartment is arranged on a single level, with two shallow steps leading into it from the front door. With thick external walls, it is naturally very cool in summer and warm in winter (there is an underfloor heating system for the cooler months). There are two double en-suite bedrooms, one with a king-sized bed, the other with 2 twin beds (this can be replaced by a king-size bed, if requested). We can put a child's cot or an extra single bed in the main bedroom, if required. The en-suite to the main bedroom has a bath and separate walk-in shower; the second ensuite is a shower room. The living area is bright and comfortable with a DVD player and iPod dock and a selection of books (in English), games and DVDs. There is wifi internet. The well-equipped kitchen has a dishwasher and microwave. There is a small valuables safe in the main bedroom. Insect screens have been fitted on all the windows.
The south-facing enclosed private garden terrace is mostly laid to grass, with herb and flower beds and a shaded, gravelled eating area. The terrace has wonderful views of the mountains and the nearby lake. It is fenced in and gated and is safe for children.
All household linens and towels are provided, as well as pool/beach towels. Towels and bedlinen are changed weekly.

The Marche region
The apartment is set in the rolling foothills of the Sibillini mountain range, a short drive from the National Park, with excellent opportunities for walking, hiking and lake swimming. Horse-riding, canoeing, pedal-boating, and gentle walks by the lake and river are 2 minutes away. Amandola has good clay tennis courts that can be pre-booked and a new gym (no membership necessary – you can purchase vouchers for as many visits as you wish). We can provide walking maps and information if you feel like exploring. If you just want to relax and chill out, you can watch the world go by over a coffee or prosecco, and visit the local markets.
There are excellent restaurants nearby, many of them in the beautiful hilltop towns that abound in the area. In the summer season there are food festivals almost every weekend, and you can take in the atmosphere at the many medieval and jousting festivals.
There are stunning examples of Renaissance art in the medieval towns dotted throughout the surrounding hills, and there are many opportunities to enjoy music and opera at open-air venues during the summer months. The larger towns of Ascoli Piceno, Fermo, Loreto and Macerata are well worth a visit.

"Exceptional Italian Interlude"
I recently spent a month at La Mirabella near Amandola. Beautiful mountain views surround the private garden overlooking a lake in the near distance. The accommodation is spacious and modern and very comfortable. Bed linens to die for. Not least, the hosts are personable, charming and a great source of information. Truly a wonderful month.

"Couldn't have asked for a lovelier or more congenial place to stay in Italy"
I spent 2 weeks with a friend at La Mirabella in late Sept. Having 2 separate bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, was ideal for friends or couples. Each bathroom had an excellent shower and one had a generous tub. The bedrooms were well-lit, with enough storage space, very comfortable beds and high-quality linens. The outdoor space was private with a pretty garden and a great view of the surrounding mountains and countryside. The entire region is beautifully scenic. I loved sitting in the garden in the morning, enjoying my morning coffee and the view. Amandola is charming and has all necessary amenities (post office, grocery stores, several nice shops, great pizza and gelato). The area is full of hill towns that are fun to explore and there are a number of good restaurants nearby. I can't say enough good things about our hosts, Fiona and Carel. They were wonderful: welcoming, knowledgeable about the area and very helpful without being intrusive. La Mirabella is a great choice for a relaxed Italian getaway.

"Superb - first class accommodation and a totally pleasurable experience!"
My husband and I stayed at La Mirabella with our friends (another couple) from 23 August to 10 September. The apartment was spacious and clean and very well equipped. We actually stayed in both bedrooms during our visit. We were initially in the smaller twin room (which was made into a double for us) and then moved into the main double room when our friends returned to the UK. We found both the rooms and beds to be very comfortable with superb views across to the mountains and over the nearby valley/lake. I can also highly recommend the bathrooms! Usually in Italy, we find we have to be careful with the plumbing but these bathrooms were like you would find in the UK. Both the bathrooms have very large showers and the larger room has a good size bath as well. There was always plenty of hot water and the water pressure was excellent. However, what made the experience most special were our hosts, Fiona and Carel. They really put themselves out to make us comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble and they were only too pleased to give us any assistance we needed and offer advice as to where to go to eat and places to visit. On top of that, they are really lovely, friendly people and we looked forward to seeing them when we were at the apartment to have a chat. We were sorry to say goodbye! La Mirabella is ideally located in stunning countryside yet close to amenities in the local town of Amandola so you have the best of both worlds. It is convenient for visiting the many attractive hill towns in the south of Le Marche plus not too far from the coast. The mountain scenery will take your breath away also. We had a very happy and relaxing holiday and I would recommend La Mirabella to anyone!

"Outstanding Views and Outstanding Facility"
We arrived at our destination to find this lovely apartment with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths that was tastefully decorated and in modern condition. To top it off, the panorama of the area was stupendous. The views of the Italian countryside and the views of the mountains with the small hill towns nestled above them was shear beauty. What a wonderful way to relax and enjoy the Italian country side. The owners were wonderful hosts and provided us with everything we needed. They were warm and friendly and made our stay a very pleasant one. There are many small hill towns in the area that are very close by and you will find some outstanding local cuisine at some of the many restaurants in the area. We also had the luxury of eating outside enjoying the abundant views of area. No matter where you looked the view was spectacular. We were 3 people, 2 brothers and 1 sister. My brother and I had a room with 2 beds and my sister had the main bedroom. Each room provided all the amenities one could want and the views were just incredible. What a wonderful and relaxing way to wake up each morning! I would highly recommend La Mirabella to any traveler looking for a good place to stay and give it a big thumbs up! You will not be disappointed.

Stayed in La Mirabella this summer with my husband and 3 daughters aged 11, 17 and 19. We had a wonderful holiday. Fiona and Carel could not have been more helpful before and during our stay, helping us with arrival instructions and giving us lots of tips on places to visit and good restaurants in the vicinity. We hired a car from Ancona Airport, everything went very smoothly. The roads are quite windy as you get towards the foothills of the mountains so driving needs a bit of care especially as you are getting used to the roads. The accommodation itself is beautiful, along a couple of rough track roads but in a lovely setting overlooking the lake. The newly renovated apartment was very nicely furnished with everything we needed and more. The lovely welcome pack with Fiona's homemade jam was much appreciated! Sheets and towels were changed frequently. Our daughters made good use of the pool and the little private garden was so peaceful - lovely for sitting and reading/eating meals at any time of the day/evening. Only slight problem at times was the mosquitos - remember to take lots of repellant! We enjoyed a couple of trips to the nearby lake, hiring Canadian canoes, kayaks and pedaloes. Very serene and peaceful with lovely views. We also went further afield to another lake where there were beach umbrellas and other water activities. We visited lots of sleepy hilltop towns, also went higher up into the Sibellini mountains one day. The scenery is just breathtaking at times. We also ventured to Porto San Giorgio a couple of times so the girls could enjoy the beach - lovely sandy beach, uncrowded even in July and lots of beach outlets to hire sunbeds/umbrellas and cafes to take refuge from the mid-day sun. We also did a beautiful walk through an impressive gorge but it was very busy on a Sunday with too many cars for the narrow access road so I recommend going during the week. But generally the whole area is very quiet and not touristy at all. We ate in some evenings but also visited some of the restaurants recommended by Fiona and Carel, including one wonderful organic restaurant in an amazing hilltop farm/orchard setting run by a fantastic cook who could not have made us more welcome or served us more delicious food (including battered courgette flowers and sage leaves (I think!), homemade pasta cooked in wine with cheese and clematis flowers - a first experience for us but tasted wonderful!). We all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at La Mirabella and came back feeling very refreshed and relaxed. We hope to return one day and have already recommended Fiona and Carel and their lovely apartment to our friends!

"Lovely, lovely place for a family holiday"
We had such a lovely time here we didn’t want to leave. The apartment is very comfortable and nicely decorated and the kitchen was really well equipped. Our bedroom had a magnificent lake view – very hard to get up in the mornings! The garden (private) is lovely – lots of tree shade over the dining area; even though it was early in the year it was hot in the middle of the day. Lots of opportunities for meals with a view of the snow-capped mountains. The garden is completely fenced in so it was very safe for our toddler – we also liked the stable door at the apartment entrance which meant we could have the top half open and he couldn’t escape! The area is lovely and we saw very few other tourists. Eating out is cheap and child-friendly. It really does seem to be an undiscovered part of Italy, although there’s lots to see and do. The owners are great, very friendly and helpful and provided loads of info. We thought it was very good value too.

"What a find! So glad we found this gem"
Having made a very last-minute booking for Christmas and the New Year we really landed on our feet in what turned out to be the very first holiday let in this lovely newly-refurbished apartment. The owners went out of their way to make our stay memorable, from providing a very generous welcome pack full of Italian Christmas goodies, to inviting us for a drink in their home on New Year’s Eve. The apartment was extremely clean and well furnished and very warm and comfortable. Everything, from the showers to the oven, worked properly, which made a welcome change from a lot of holiday lets we’ve been to. The great weather really contributed to a happy holiday – most days we were able to eat lunch outside enjoying the amazing views of the snow-capped mountains. We went for lots of easy walks around the lake and in the hills. Our daughter was interested in horse-riding from the nearby stables but was too lazy in the end to actually do it. Beautiful small cities that we’d never heard of (Fermo and Ascoli Picino) within a 40-minute drive, were recommended by the owners as being worth a visit, and they really were. We did a lot of cooking but we also ventured out a few times to some of the great and amazingly reasonably priced restaurants in the area. We were so sorry to leave, but unfortunately had to get back to reality. This is a beautiful place in the middle of winter and we’d love to make a return visit in the summer, if Fiona and Carl will have us!
