The Marche region
The Hideaway is located in a quiet valley in Villa Conti, a peaceful little village between Amandola (6 miles) & Comunanza (2 miles) in Le Marche.
The attractive spa town of Sarnano is only 15 miles away & we are ideally situated for both the ski resorts at Sassotetto & the beaches of the Adriatic (both within a 40 minute drive).
Our nearby town of Amandola has a beautifully porticoed main square where you can sit outside one of the cafes & enjoy a coffee before wandering up through the old town's cobbled streets to view the stunning Monte Sibillini.
There are many more perfect hill-top towns & villages to explore. Nothing can be more beautiful, whatever the season, from the crisp snow in the winter to the Sibillini National Park with its carpet of Spring flowers. The sandy beaches of Grottammare & San Benedetto are inviting in the Summer & the Gola dell'Infernaccio makes a stunning Autumn ramble.
The Monti Sibillini National Park covers nearly 2 million acres with some of the highest mountains in the Appennines, (Monte Vettore being the highest at 2,476m).
The park offers walks of all levels to some of the most delightful yet least discovered areas in the whole of Italy.
Ancient hilltop villages are perched upon craggy cliffs waiting to be explored, deep gorges with icy waterfalls, wild flowers of every possible colour and wildlife all around.
The Hideaway provides a perfect base for exploring this stunning region & a wonderful place to relax in after your busy day exploring..
Visit the markets, shops & restaurants - the traditional cuisine is delicious & wine inexpensive. Dezi, one of our local wine producers has even won best vineyard to the year for the whole of Italy and one of our local pizzerias has won the award for best pizza maker in the whole world!
Look out for the many year round local festivals, from the Medieval Palio to truffle festas, nativities, harvest festivals & many more.
There are day trips to discover the fascinating towns of Sarnano, Servigliano, Ascoli Piceno, Offida, Norcia, Assisi & Loreto (to name a few) plus the varied beaches of the Adriatic, all just a short drive away. Museums & churches, art & history, nature & astronomy are all waiting for you to explore within easy reach. Famous artists such as Crivelli and Raphael all have stunning works in Le Marche.
Other Activities include mule trekking, bird watching, skiing 45 minutes away at Sassotetto, beautiful scenery for artistic inspiration, paragliding, cross-country skiing, canoeing, motocross, horse riding and more.
Shopping: Le Marche is home to many famous brands including Armani, Tods and Prada. Whilst here, why not visit one of the many the factory outlet shops and find yourself a real bargain. We have shoemakers making famous hade-made shoe and bags and many artesian outlets, including a wonderful copper-makers specialising in beautiful cookware in Comunanza which has been in operation for generations.
Cookery Courses: Why not take part in cookery lesson whist in Le Marche and learn how to prepare traditional Italian dishes and pasta or eat our famous local white and black truffles. The amazing fresh porcini mushrooms are definitely worth trying. Le Marche really is a gourmets delight.
Opera: The beautiful Sferisterio in Macerata is home to our local opera and stunning performances can be seen every July and August. There are ballets and plays at other times too. Well worth a visit!
Golf: The nearest golf courses are at the beautiful Conero near Ancona (1 hour 20 minutes drive) and I Lauri near Pedaso (40 minutes drive).
Ski: Skiing is available at Sassotetto, Pintura and Madelena, all around a 45 minute drive. Although the ski resorts are fairly small, there are runs to suit all abilities and the views are stunning.

The Hideaway was a wonderful finale our trip to Le Marche. Hosts Sarah and Mark gave us a warm welcome showing us around the immaculate accommodation and offering up lots of useful local information. The Hideaway is a tranquil and visually stunning destination. We were woken each morning to a myriad of birdsong - which accompanied our breakfast which we enjoyed outside. The grounds are beautifully kept - in fact everything is nurtured by the owners, which is lovely to see. The local area has many restaurants and small shops, which are just a short car ride away. Unfortunately, after we left, I realised I had lost a personal item of great value (both sentimental and monetary) whilst at The Hideaway. Mark and Sarah found the item (after a bit of a search as it was in the grass!) and are keeping it safe for me while I organise its safe return. I highly recommend this holiday destination which is all due to such caring hosts!

"The perfect getaway"
My husband and I know Le Marche very well, and we've stayed at Il Nascondiglio before, but this time took a friend for a short break. This time we stayed in one of the self-catering apartments that had absolutely everything in it you could need. Mark and Sarah were their usual wonderful hosts - greeting us with homemade cakes and a bottle of wine. It's the perfect spot for just sitting, sipping a glass or two of the wonderful local wine and contemplating the world. I really can't recommend this place enough - and look forward to another stay some time in the very near future.
