The Campania region

Campania is an extraordinary mixture of art, culture and nature; a land where ancient and modern fuse together in a grandiose spectacle which has lasted for thousands of years.
CLIMATE: A typical Mediterranean climate; hot, dry and sunny in Summer and although cooler in the winter, it still has lots of bright and sunny days and several hours of sunshine a day.
POSITION: Campania is on the south west coast of Italy on the Mediterranean sea, about 2 hours south of Rome.
PLACES OF INTEREST: Naples is one of Italy's most vibrant Italian cities. “Bella Napoli”, where the pizza Margherita was born, is renowned for the character of its people who say “see Naples and then die”. Admire the impressive panorama and the former Royal family palace in Piazza Plebicito. You can wander through the famous 'spaccanapoli', with its church of Santa Chiara.
LOCAL SPECIALITIES: The region is famous for its hand-crafted inlaid wood furniture, music boxes and artefacts. Also hand-made leather shoes, jewellery and ceramics are very popular.
CUISINE: Italy is most famous for its pizza and it is impossible to visit ICamapania without eating a pizza, after all pizza was invented and transformed in Naples! Pizza are cooked in bread ovens and are fed firewood to reach a high temperature which cooks the pizza quickly and perfectly, with the oven enhancing its flavour. Seafood is served fresh in most restaurants or can be bought from the local markets and fish shops. Arguably some of the best wines come from Italian grapes. In Italy you can enjoy your favourite Italian wines for much less than you would pay elsewhere.
SHOPPING: Via Toledo is Naples’s mainstream shopping high street. Chiaia and Piazza dei Martiri is the place to go for more boutique designer labels. Via Port d’Alba and via dei Tribunali are lined with junk stalls and booksellers. For a true Napoli-style shopping experience head to Porto Nolana for the daily fish market.
The Amalfi Coast area
With its 42 kilometre stretch of gently sloping coastline and white pebbled-beaches, the Amalfi Coast is an 'earthly paradise' with breathtaking beauty.
AMALFI COAST: One of Italy's most spectacular coastlines begins after Sorrento, runs through Positano and continues until it reaches Amalfi. Looking along the tall cliffs and down into the sapphire sea, takes your breath away.
POSITANO: A vibrant village with narrow, colourful buildings which cascade like a waterfall down a vertiginous hill to the sea. Positano's town centre meanders down to the waterfront, where a profusion of cafes, bars and restaurants sell fresh seafood. The beach air is filled with the perfume of orange, almond blossom and jasmine.
AMALFI: Once the most important trading port in the southern Italy, Amalfi is in the ravine of the Mulini Valley, its churches, towers and arcaded houses rising above the small harbour. The town's Duomo dominates a long flight of steps and embraces a picturesque piazza stretching to its seafront. A wonderful contrast between fine beaches in front and tall cliffs behind.
SORRENTO: Sorrento offers wonderful views of the entire bay of Naples and the Island of Capri. There are beautiful beaches, bars surrounding Piazza Tasso, great shops and a fragrant citrus purfume from near-by trees.Sorrento has narrow streets and quiet squares, like Piazza Tasso which is brimming with excellent restaurants, bars and cafés. There are many trendy shops from one-off boutiques to top names including Max Mara, Gucci and Armani. From Sorrento you can take coaches or hovercrafts to Amalfi, Positano, Ischia and Capri.
CAPRI: Capri offers panormamic vistas at every turn, picturesque eateries with local seafood and blue grottos hidden under the limestone cliffs. A trip to Capri is ideal for a one-day excursion from Sorrento with the hydrofoil. Capri is, unquestionably, the holiday princess of the Italian islands: idyllic and rugged with its shimmering Blue Grotto and cliffs that descend down into the sea. Capri has trendy jewellery shops and designer boutiques.
POMPEII & VESUVIUS: Pompeii is one of the most important Roman archaeological sites in the world and Vesuvius is the only active volcano in Europe. Pompeii and Herculaneum are cities buried by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD and re-discovered in the 18th century. It is possible to drive to 3,200 feet and then trek to its summit to enjoy the mesmerising views of the entire gulf of Naples.
SHOPPING: The Amalfi coast offers unique local, hand-crafted produce; varieties of limoncello (lemon liquer), coral jewellery and artifacts, inlaid wooden pictures and jewellery boxes, ceramics and real leather shoes. Don't miss browsing among the typical little shops that line the narrow village streets selling handmade items on which these beautiful surroundings are reproduced.
RESTAURANTS: You really are spoilt for choice! Wherever you go you can sample genuine local dishes and wines prepared according to tradition from fine wines, pasta and fish dishes to original Italian pizzas. You can enjoy a pizza and an Italian beer or glass of wine for less than £10 a head. Alternatively, you can experience the delicious, freshly caught seafood and more up market restaurants, which offer a range of pasta and seafood specialities.
BEACHES: The Amalfi coast offers sandy beaches, crystal-clear seawater, rocky coastlines and charming marinas. There are so many beaches to choose from! For enthusiasts of marine life, diving centres operate in all seasons, with snorkeling and scuba equipment.

Guestbook for Exclusive Romantic Villa
Martin and Rhian, England - Nov 2009
Dear Alfonso,
We had a wonderful holiday on the Amalfi coast. Il Sentiero delle Sirene is everything that we could have expected. A warm welcome, a family home that has been beautifully thought about at every stage and of the highest standard. It is a magical place set into a cliff.
We would like to return in the future.
Best Wishes to Vincenzo

Words can not describe the experience you will have at the villa. No one has been to heaven and back. But you can do just that if you visit Il Sentiero delle Sirene.
Heaven awaits.

Il Sentiero delle Sirene is unlike any place I have ever been to. I was there in 2006 and coming back I was still amazed at how beautiful it is!! There were 10 of us and there was plenty of room and very comfortable. Pizza night with Vincenzo is so much fun. The pizza is by far the best ever!!! I would definitely love to go there again in the future.
Tim, John,
We have enjoyed spending days here enjoying the great view and the pool and just relaxing...
The gardens are wonderful... just to walk though and look or sit is a great treat!
To sit by the pool at night and watch the stars fall from the sky...
Thank you for sharing this wonderful home with us... We will come back for sure... I hope other guest enjoy "Il Sentiero delle Sirene" as much as we did...
Ciao!

"A week ago I opened the arched gates and stepped into heaven! I now look back and reflect upon a most enjoyable vacation. Il Sentiero delle Sirene is an amazing home situated upon such scenic cliffs. Each angle of the home offers a new and special view."

Six days, or six minutes ago, that I strode anxiously into a Cliffside paradise?
Either way it was the best time spent in a long time. The word of the day here was always “unbelievable”, and it was repeated every time someone ventured a glance at the spectacular Mediterranean shimmering hundreds of feet below us.
Before I leave let me give a suggestion: WOOD FIRED PIZZA! As I stated before, it’s unbelievable
