Casa la Terrazza di Maria is a large apartment situated in Praiano directly on the Amalfi coastal road which runs along the sea connecting Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi, Ravello, and Salerno . It is located in a tranquil and evocative position and offers one of the most panoramic views of the Amalfi coast .
The property is complete with all bed, bath and kitchen linens and all the amenities necessary for a first-class holiday .
The proprietors live close-by and are always available to help you ( Italian , English , German spoken ) .
Public buses connecting with all centres along the Amalfi-Coast stop 50 mt. from the door. It is 5 minute walk to the nearest beach “La Praia” where you can swim or take a boat to all nearby islands and coastal towns . There is a water-taxi service, boat rental, a scuba-diving centre and several bars and restaurants offering excellent local cuisine .
A 10 minute walk takes you to the commercial centre of Praiano, where you will find grocery store, butcher shop, emporium, bank services, first aid station, bars and restaurants –pizzeria . Trekkers can enjoy several excellent trails in the area. Such the famous Sentieri degli Dei(Path of the Gods) .

One can make trips to Pompeii , Vesuvius , Cumae , Hercolano , Stabiae , Capri , Sorrento , Positano , Amalfi , Ravello and Paestum, all of which are in the within the region of Campania . The entire area is full of interesting and historical places.
The warm Mediterranean climate enables one to enjoy any of these excursions, or simply spend a day to relax in the sun, visit the wonderful shops, meander through the narrow little streets and absorb the Italian way of life....which is pure theatre in itself !
The region is known for it's unspoilt beaches, on some of which there is a plethora of small restaurants. Most of which specialise in both fresh fish, vegetables and local dishes - quite simply there is something here for everyone!
The Amalfi Coast / Praiano area
Firstly, it has to be said that Praiano has maintained the warmth and intimacy of it's small fishing and farming community, it is a village reknowned for it's friendly atmosphere and lacks the sophistication of Positano and the tourist attractions of Amalfi; albeit these two neighbouring towns are only a stone's throw away.
It is advisable to take advantage of the local buses whenever possible, as parking can be difficult and driving on these narrow, hairpin bends is definitly best left to the Italians.
The public transport system is both cheap and efficient, and the bus stop is nearby.
The nearest beach ,“La Praia”, is 300 metres away from the apartment, and can be reached either by foot or by car. The ten minute walk down to this beach is a breathtakingly beautiful experience... in every way!
There is also a private access to the sea by means of a quantity of steep steps carved into the cliff face - this is well worth the effort, but not for the faint hearted!
On the small beach there is a boat rental company from which one can catch a water taxi to the local towns, and the beaches that are only accessible from the water, one can arrange fishing trips, excursions to the Grotto Smeraldo, or simply to hire privately for the day.
Praiano is also renowned for both it's Scuba diving centre, it's local ceramics and it's " hotspot ", the Africana discotheque; unique in it's setting, a vast grotto within the cliff face - most appealing to all ages!
The selection of small local shops are all within walking distance and the ' family run ' grocery shop not only stocks a colourful selection of locally grown and fresh produce, but also provides a very popular spot in which to catch up on all the gossip of the day!

Paris was divine, but not heavenly, like Praiano was. I finally got over my sickness by the Monday, then we drank champagne and got fat on pastries!
I can't wait to get back to Praiano!

We very much enjoyed our stay at Freda B, however, as we were doing a lot of touring in the area, we did not spend that much time in the Villa itself. Had we needed to spend more time there were a few things that should be improved.
I. We did not get a working oven until later in the week. Not a problem for us as we were eating out often, but could have been had we wanted more meals in
2. There is no WiFi as advertised - Hi Speed cable is available but only one person at a time then is able to be on line, we had 3 computers with us.
3. I think we must have been the first visitors of the season. The Villa was clean and very tidy however it was a bit dusty.
That's the negative: Now the positive:
1. The location is perfect for exploring this part of the coast
2. The views are terrific and amazing.
3. The patio/deck was very comfortable
4. Our host was extremely helpful, welcoming, easy to get hold of and very nice to get to know
5. Parking was more than adequate and very much appreciated.
6. The bathrooms are large and comfortable to use
7. We appreciated having a clothes washer
8. Loved having breakfast on the patio/deck and seeing the lemon trees below.
