Tourist attractions include the Sibyl's cave at Cumae, the Greek temples at Paestum, the Roman ruins at Pompeii and Herculaneum, the volcanoes of Vesuvius, Campi Flegrei and Ischia, the Amalfi Coast (Costiera Amalfitana) from Sorrento to Salerno and the islands of Capri, Ischia and Procida.
Amalfi Coast / Conca dei Marini area
The Amalfi coast is dotted with amazing places to visit. Amalfi itself,Ravello,Positano,Sorrento. take a ferry to Capri or Ischia. check local websites for details of the many festivals which take place throughout the year.
Amalfi's main square is dominated by the Duomo Sant'Andrea, an imposing Cathedral dating from the 10th century and well worth a visit. There is also the Civic Museum and the Paper Museum. Ideal for walkers, in the hills above Amalfi are dozens of small paths and stairways connecting the towns with mountainsides villages. The harbour has daily ferries to the islands of Capri, Ischia and boats to any other of the towns along the coast. Positano, Sorrento and Salerno, in fact it is one of the easiest and most pleasant ways to get around! Alternatively, there are frequent buses to all the local towns and attractions (www.uniplan.it/sita).
