The Campania region
The region has a mild Mediterranean climate with long, hot summers with average highs of 30-35 degrees celsius and moderate winters with an average temperature of 10 degrees.
Conca dei Marini was founded by the ancient Romans, around the year 500 BC, like many of the other towns on the Amalfi Coast. Conca's Latin name means "Basin of the Seas", this is surely because of the way its coastline contours along the Mediterranean sea, creating enchanting small fiords, and gulfs.
Conca dei Marini is also famous for its "Grotta dello Smeraldo" (Emerald Grotto) renowned all over the world for its amazing emerald-green waters. The Grotto is reachable by both land, and ferry. Once you reach the Grotto, you are taken on a guided boat tour of the interior cave.
Other worthy sites to visit in Conca are: the Church of San Pancrazio (it has an amazing view of the Amalfi Coast from its courtyard) and the Monastery of Santa Rosa.
Amalfi Coast / Conca dei Marini area
Amalfi, is just one of the unique towns along the Amalfi Drive, a 50 Km Stretch of road from Salerno to Sorrento which bends and winds along cliffs that drop into crystal clear waters connecting the beautiful towns of Positano, Amalfi , Pompei, Ercolano, Paestum and the hillside village of Ravello.
Ideal for walkers, in the hills above Amalfi are dozens of small paths and stairways connecting the towns with mountainsides villages.

Guestbook for Conca dei Marini Villa
In the quiet of winter, Maria's property was the perfect writing room for me. The views of stormy skies competed with azul blue for my attention. It is a landscape of natural beauty. Many steps though. One must be in fine form to endure arriving and departing. Agould, Vancouver, Canada.
