Home description

Vila Marachique is set in a quiet private complex just over 1 km from the town centre.
The apartment sits in 4.8 acres of beautiful gardens with one of the best lagoon style pools in the region.
Facilities include a children's pool, huge lake style main pool, on site bar and children's playground.
There are three beautiful non polluted beaches within a 2 minute drive or 20 minute walk . There are 2 supermarkets and restaurants within a 2 minute walk.
A 15/20 minute walk takes you in to the centre of Alvor a beautiful village with cobbled streets that bustle with restaurants bars shops, and a beautiful marina and beach.

The Algarve / West Algarve region

The algarve enjoys a mild climate most of the year. The gentle sea breeze stops it getiing too humid,in the summer months. There is plenty to see, from the chic marina at villamora to the more rustic villages that abound nearby. A 2 hr drive from Alvor takes you up to Lisbon, or 2 hours in the other direction takes you over the Spanish border in to southern spain.

Alvor is a classic old fishing village. Narrow cobbled streets lead down to the huge beautiful beach and harbour. The streets are a maze of shops restaurants, cafe's and bars. With very child friendly restaurants and bars that stay open late this resort has plenty for couples and families to enjoy.
Alvor beach caters for all watersports and has numerous beachside restaurants.
There is a daily market for food,and a bustling gypsy street market every 2nd tuesday.
Nature and bird lovers can enjoy the marshland saltpans and mudflats of the Alvor Estuary where beautiful wildlife can be seen.
There is also a skydiving centre nearby complete with cafe to watch.
You can also take a boat trip from Alvor harbour, a wide range of different trips from fishing to dolphin watching.
Nearby are plenty of large supermarkets including ALDI LIDL, CARREFOUR AND CONTINENTE

#The nearest golf course is ALTO Golf, there are views over the course from the apartment.

As well as the super amenities that Alvor has to offer. A 2 minute drive takes you in to the bustling harbour town of Portimao. Here you will find delightful squares with fountains and cafes to relax at. The lovely harbour bustling with activity, and a wonderful eclectic mix of old historic buildings mixed with exciting new regeneration.
For the more energetic, excellent nightlife can be found at Praia de Rochas.. a few minuted by cab.

In the other direction, LAGOS is about 20km away and has delightful shops and a variety of restaurants and attractions, including Lagos Zoo and Waterparks


How to get there

Car hire is not essential but could be advisable if you want to explore, or have a young family.
If you want to avoid the cost of a big hire car to get to your resort ,Private transfers can be organised cheaply from Faro. An average cost £35 for 1-4 people.. with unlimited luggage, leaving you free to hire a smaller car in Alvor if and when you require one. do email for details of companies we have used for this.
Local Taxis are very reasonable.

For babies travel cot and babies booster seat, potty and step up stool, children's plastic cutlery and dinner sets.
These extra touches will appeal to both families and couples alike. There is also an lcd tv in the bedroom
WE HAVE ALSO NOW INSTALLED ENGLISH FREEVIEW CHANNELS for your enjoyment in both the living room and master bedroom
Hand and Bath Towels can be provided at a small extra charge

Further details outdoors:
Pool for the exclusive use of vila marachique guests. Pool open april to october. Sunbeds available to hire for a small charge.

the pool and onsite facilities are run by a separate management company and any changes made to facilities /opening times are at the discretion of the management company, and therefore out of the owners control. Vending machines have been installed for this season





Pool passes are for six guests max.
Please note if more than six are going, an additonal charge would be payable at reception for the use of the pool/

Guest mattress under divan in guest room can accommodate an extra child in the room making 3 single beds.
All bed linen and duvets for kingsize provided.

lightweight summer tog duvets also provided for the high season.

Travel cot and bed linen available. Booster seat in stead of high chair, so you can take it out with you if neccesary.

No smoking inside the apartment please.

New for 2008, thank you to guest book feedback, there are now 2 sets of keys for the apartment for your convenience.

Our last meal was at the restaurant across the road from the complex, wonderful, friendly and attentive.
