The apartment benefits from a hall, large lounge with sofa bed that make either into a double bed or twin beds plus a seperate fold up bed making it ideal for 5 persons. There is also another easy sofa, 3 easy chairs, 2 coffee tables, TV cabinet, large rug, lamps and wall lighting and a bookcase. The dining area has a table and six chairs and has double patio doors which open onto the balcony. There is a separate kitchen which is fully furnished with fan assisted oven, electric hob, washing machine, fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster, microwave another set of patio doors for outside al fresco dining. The bathroom has bath/ shower with glass screen,toilet, bidet, washbasin, window, chrome stand for bath towels and a laundry basket. The bedroom has 2 single beds which can be pushed together to make a double, large wardrobe with mirror and safe, 2 beside cabinets, dressing table with stool and its own balcony which overlooks the rear of the property and has views to the sea and beach.
It is set on the outskirts of the wonderful Portuguese fishing village of Alvor which boasts some of the best fish restaurants in the area. The beaches are splendid with miles of sandy beaches, safe swimming, life guards are situated along the coast at various points. There are many cafes, resturants, water activaties all along the beach as well as deck chair and sun shade hire.
There is a beautiful marina where you can watch the local fishermen at work and see them bringing in the local caught lobsters and fish or sample some of the delights at the nearby resturants as they will cook on the bar-b-que produce you have selected from their outdoor chillers.
You can take a boat here to go dolphin watching or visit some of the local historic towns and villages or the caves. For children there are 2 waterparks approximately 40 minutes away with water slides, wave machine etc.., Zoo Marine has wild bird show, sealion show, dolphin show and you can book in advance to swin with the dolphins, fun park and swimming pools. Take a jeep safari and go off track into the Monchique mountains and learn all about Algarvian lifestyle and sample the fire water.

The main entrance foyer has 2 sets of lifts and 2 staircases with an intercom entry system. The apartment is on the first floor and can be found at the end of the corridor.
The size of the apartment is overall much larger than a normal 1 bedroomed due to the location being at the end of the building.
Upon entrance you will walk into a large hallway which leads into the lounge / dining room. The front window from the lounge overlooks the pool and the dining room has double patio doors onto the balcony . Here you will find table and chairs for al fresco dining. The kitchen has single electric fan assisted oven, hob, extractor, fridge/freezer, washing machine, microwave. Another set of patio doors onto the balcony. The bathroom has a bath with shower and screen, toilet, bidet and a bathroom window. At the rear is the main bedroom with 2 single beds that can be made into a double, wardrobe with safe, 2 bedside cabinets and a dressing table.
There is another set of patio doors onto a separate balcony and two comfy deck chairs, a window to the rear which looks over to the sea. The apartment has no air conditioning but has 2 large fans and 2 tower fans, 3 electric heaters for cooler evenings. A sofa bed can be found in the lounge for either twin beds or a double bed and a seperate fold up single bed. There is a brand new sofa and three easy chairs, a flat screen TV, Satellite TV, DVD player, DVDs, Books, Games, Radio/CD player, Maps and leaflets on places of interest. A cot be hired on request if notified in advance.
Further details outdoors:
Extensive gardens and lawns of 5 acres surround the lake-sized pool and bar. The bar/snack area is set in the middle of the pool and is open from 9am till 9pm and serves breakfast, lunchtime snacks, tea, coffee and home made cakes, ices, beers, wines etc... Light evening meals and salads, home made quiche can be made to order The children's pool and small play area are located away from the quiet poolside, there are outside toilets also in the grounds. The area is gated and entrance is gained by a key which makes this a very safe haven for children. Just across can be found 2 excellent restaurants or if you prefer Alvor town centre is a mere 10 minute walk away were there are restaurants for every taste. If you want a bit more night life take a short taxi ride into Portimao.There is a reserved area in the secure underground parking as well as an outdoor parking area. The children's play area has a slide, climbing frame and swings. In the peak months there are various outdoor activities arranged by the pool management team.
No smoking is allowed in the apartment as smoke detectors are fitted throughout.. Strictly NO PETS.
There will be someone to hand over the keys to you, escort you to the apartment and show you the facilities available.
There is also on site an office should you encounter any problems with a lady who speaks English to assist you.
Checkout can be flexable dependent on the occupancy of the apartment.
10% deposit is required at the time of booking (non refundable). Balance required 8 weeks before departure. A breakage/damage deposit of £100 is required and on inspection by the management team will be returned provided there is no damage to the building or the contents.
The Algarve / West Algarve region
Alvor is a very pretty fishing village with a wide range of restaurants, bars and shops. It has an extensive sandy beach here you can find all sorts of beach activities taking place, from April to September lifeguards serve the beach. It is approximately 5 minutes by car and 10-15 minutes walking distance.
The harbour area is very quaint with its fisherman's huts, boats, lobster pots and fishing nets, the old fish market can be found here too. Further along the beach is a nature reserve There are many fish restaurants around here and you can select what you would like to be cooked on the outdoor bar-b-q's.
As you walk up the main street away from the harbour this is where the many bars and other restaurants can be found such as Indian, Chinese, Portuguese, Italian.
The Alvor / Marachique area
Boat trips can be taken from the harbour to go dolphin watching or to visit the historic towns of Silves or Lagos to the west. The quaint town of Loule is just a short drive away and is famous for its market. Fiesa International Sand Sculpture festival is worthy of a visit, every year it has a different theme and it is illuminated in the evenings.
Slide and Splash and Zoo Marine are a 30 minute drive away or take the open top bus which you can catch from the bus stop just a short walk away. Golf courses are never very far away and the closes being Alto Golf is just 5 minutes away and the championship course of Penina 10 minutes.
Alvor has a public indoor swimming pool as well as outdoor tennis clubs which can be found in the harbour as well as ten pin bowling. Portimao is 10 minutes away for larger banks, more shops, large marina. Monchique is well worth a visit, take a jeep safari and learn all about the algarvian lifestyle even try the local "Firewater" liqueur. Alvor local market is held on the second Tuesday of the month in the town.
There is a very good inexpensive rail service that runs along the alagarve coastal route and the nearest station is at Portimao. You can take the local bus number 10 into Portimao marina and change there for another bus to the station. The train stops at many of the resorts along the way and goes as far as Faro Airport.

Alvor is approx 1hr from Faro Airport by car on the very good A22 motorway.
Numerous car hire companies can be found at Faro airport or can be booked prior to departure via the internet.
There is an excellent shuttle bus service that runs regularly from the airport direct to the apartment, the journey takes approx 1hr 10mins and the cost is around £25 per person return and is booked via the internet.
There are also several local taxi, mini bus services that run from the airport which also can be booked via the internet.
There is an excellent regular train service that runs from Faro to Portimao and from here you can take the local bus which drops you outside the apartment.
Local buses stop just outside the complex and serve the nearby beaches and Alvor town. You can also get a bus here ( Number 10) into the main bus station in Portimao or walk along the main road which takes approximately 30 minutes.
All major low cost airlines fly into Faro and are relatively inexpensive for flights.
An underground car park can be found in the complex with an allocated parking bay for your apartment.

Excellant Appartment in pristine condition and very well equipped for a perfect holiday. Pool and poolside food area are both spotless.. Would not hesitate to use this appartment again.

This was my second trip to the same apartment at Vila Marachique in Alvor. The apartment is just a clean and tidy as when I originally visited 3 years ago. It has all the facilities of home and is large and airy with plenty of room to sleep four people. Since my last stay, the use of English sky TV has been added, which was nice to keep in touch with current affairs.
The apartment grounds and gardens just get better and better as they have matured into a wonderful setting for the magnificent pool which is one of the largest I have seen on the Algarve. It would be very easy to spend all ones time around the pool, however the beaches are beautiful and clean and well worth sacrficing a few days around the pool in order to visit them.
Alvor is a pretty town, within a reasonable walking distance. There are plenty of restaurants to eat at, catering for all tastes at very reasonable prices.
The local bus service runs regularly and picks up/drops off just outside Vila Marachique, so it is easy to explore further afield without the additional cost of hiring a car.
One of the most relaxing holidays I have been on in several years and I won't be leaving it another 3 years before I return.

The apartment is extremely spacious, immaculate and is equipped/furnished to a very high standard. Nothing has been overlooked - definitely a home from home. The complex is very secure and well maintained - the children's pool is very large, yet comfortably shallow even at its deepest point. Absolutely ideal for babies and toddlers!
We ate out at several places for lunch during our stay (unfortunately we didn't make a note of them and can't remember the names), however all food was to a high standard and we received excellent service at all times.
The beaches are superb - on several occasions we took the walk past the water tower, through to the Prainha Club and down to the beach via the elevator and would highly recommend. The harbour is also well worth a visit. We also walked to Praia Du Vau (en route to Praia De Rocha) on a couple of occasions - there are a few small bars/restaurants and a beautiful beach.
The walk back up to the apartment from Alvor town is quite steep - however, our 2 year completed the walk several times without stopping (in temperatures approaching 40 degrees) which put us to shame. However, we did reward ourselves (using the taxi money we'd saved) by stopping at the bakery behind the petrol station. It serves wonderful cakes, very reasonably priced drinks and is a must if you like parrots and terrapins!
The locals are extremely helpful, friendly and provide a wonderful welcome.
So, all in all, it really was a perfect holiday and cannot be recommend highly enough!
