Quinta de Sao Pedro is a very quiet small private enclosed development of 16 apartments with beautifully maintained gardens and a secluded pool area situated just 3 minutes walk from the bustling holiday atmosphere in the village of Alvor and from there a further 2 minute stroll to the harbour and beaches.

Apartment J23 is a two bedroomed duplex apartment with two full sized bedrooms, two bathrooms and balcony on the upper floor and a large combined dining room and lounge with separate kitchen and generous terrace on the lower floor. This apartment is equipped and furnished to a very high standard, every room is air-conditioned and there are ceiling fans for extra comfort. The terrace on the lounge level seats 6 comfortably for al fresco dining. The apartment sleeps 4 very comfortably and there is room in the lounge for folding beds or cots to accommodate a family of 6.

The Algarve region

The western Algarve is the area south of the Monchique Serra and includes the southern coastal area from Portimao to the soutwestern tip of europe Sao Vicente. The coast is a 170km stretch of beaches of all kinds interspersed by small towns each with a character of its own. The beaches range from the 5km silver sand of Alvor to the spectacular vertical cliffs of Pont da Piedade. For sun or surf the western Algarve offers something for every taste. Back from the coast there are some of the finest golf courses anywhere in Europe including renowned international courses such as Penina, Morgado or Alto Club. When its hot down at the sea the cool breezes and stunning views from the Monchique hillside are always a welcome change with lots of small restaurants providing a variety of local speciality sausages and cured hams. For cultural input Silves is a must as the onetime capital of the region it boasts vestiges of the presence of Vikings, Romans, and of course Moors in the area and is of course the home of Portugals cork research institute and museum.


Alvor is situated at the mouth of the river Alvor and is a typical fishing village that has developed into a family tourist centre without losing its essential village character. The harbour is protected from the open sea behind a long sand spit which forms a lagoon connected to the river estuary and is used by small sporting craft as well as the working fishing community. From Alvor there are boat tours to see dolphins in the estuary and along the coast to Silves to visit the caves.

The estuary area is a Nature Reserve in which many different birds nest and visit as a migration stopover. This makes the area a fascinating day out in the natural surroundings along paths and byways well off the beaten track.

For golfers there are several courses within minutes by car from Alvor some of which are the work of Sir Henry Cotton who spent much of the latter part of his professional career in the area designing courses.

Alvor is 10 minutes by car from the only Formula One standard race track where there are frequent motorbike and car race meetings and practice sessions open to the public.

The beach in Alvor just 5 minutes walk from the harbour is in fact a stretch of silver sand extending for several miles and is well organised with parking, small restaurants/cafes at the beach, and coastguard services in the main area, but still plenty of space for those who want a spot of privacy. It is ideal for families with small children and the walk to and from the beach through the narrow streets of the village gives the chance to enjoy the really relaxed atmosphere or sit down at one of the wide variety of eateries along the way and enjoy local wine with excellent fish or meat specialities.

"perfect location, clean and spacious appartment, peaceful and relaxing."

We had a fantastic holiday this year in Alvor. The apartment was really lovely and very clean and spacious.The location of it was perfect, both for the centre and also not too far from the beach.We would have no hesitation in recommending this apartment to family and friends and hope to return again soon. Thank you to Donald and Jana.

"Comfortable, modern appartment, easy walk to the villages restaurants"

We have just returned from 2 weeks in this lovely apartment in Alvor. We were met at the apartment by the owner who showed us round and told us how everything worked. The apartment surpassed our expectations, very clean, modern, full sized kitchen with everything you need :- hob, cooker, microwave, dishwasher, good sized fridge/freezer, washing machine, tumble drier etc. The balcony was big enough for a full sized table and 2 sunbeds so we were able to eat comfortably outside enjoying the view of the gardens, countryside and distant view of the Sea. The combination of air conditioning and ceiling fans made the temperature comfortable whatever the temperature outside. With 2 bedrooms both with ensuite bathrooms there was no problem with queuing for the shower with 2 teenage boys either! The gardens were well kept, the pool always clean, and the whole complex is gated so feels very secure. The complex is residential so you don't feel like you are in tourist complex, but there were always a few people around the pool in the late afternoon if you wanted a bit of company. The Satelite TV had British channels so we did not have to miss out on the olympic action either. Parking on the street directly outside was very safe in this quiet residential area. The location is excellent, about 3 minutes walk to the modern Pingo Doce supermarket which had everything we needed for our stay and we felt was reasonably priced enough not to bother driving to the bigger supermarkets at Portimao. Its about 5 minutes , walk to the village centre with the many family run restaurants. It would take about 15 minutes to walk to the nearest beaches - but we would recommend a car so that the walk back up the hill from the beaches is something to look forward to rather than dread! We would definitely return to this apartment.

"Perfect apartment in a perfect location"

Immaculately presented spacious apartment and spotlessly clean. The owners met us with the keys and showed us around, nothing was too much trouble. Very well kept gardens and pool area. 5 minutes walk into town but far enough away to appreciate the peace and quiet! The balconies are huge and quality outdoor furniture is provided. The furniture throughout the apartment is very comfortable and makes it a real home from home. All in all a fantastic base and a great holiday!! We will be back!!!
