2 minutes from the charming fishing village of Alvor with its wide selection of taverna style bars and restaurants which include some of the best sea food in the Algarve. Set in a peaceful area, close to excellent Golf courses such as "Penina championship golf club" and "Alto Golf", numerous breathtaking beaches, with watersports and boat trips available locally. Alvor is also within 30 minutes drive of the beautiful Monchique mountain range. On-site amenities include Pool, Children's pool (set in beautiful gardens with flowers and palm trees for shade), cafe bar, tennis courts and crown green bowling as well as locally renowned restaurants serving a selection of traditional Portugese dishes. Local Buses run on a regular basis and cost very little, local taxis are cheap and readily available . Also available within a short drive are horse-riding facilities and the local airfield offers plane trips to see the coastline and skydiving courses.

The Algarve / West Algarve region
Portugal's Algarve is famous for its beautiful coast line with sandy beaches and spectacular cliffs, whilst popular resort beaches are obviously well used in the peak season there are many hidden coves and beaches less used just waiting to be discovered.
The Algarve has many Markets, Castles and Nature reserves as well as Spa Towns and Natural Wonders to visit, this can easily be managed through the excellent transport infrastructure.
Children's tastes are catered for by the Water Parks, Marine Parks and Farms, including a reptile farm !
The Algarve has become a by-word for "great golf" and has courses to suit all levels.
Southern Algarve has a temperate climate similar to California and South Africa, the winters are usually wetter and cooler with temperatures between 10 and 20c. Spring in the Algarve is beautiful, not unlike a good Summer day in England with temperatures between 20 and 25c. Summer sees the best of the weather with temperatures between 22 and 35c and almost no rainfall, this usually extands into the Autumn.
Alvor / Montes de Alvor area
Alvor is an acient coastal fishing village which is now a popular holiday location, its old world charm has been retained due to the narrow, one ended streets which stops any real development. The village has a wide variety of restaurants and taverna style bars which add to its charm, food in general is of a very high quality at very reasonable prices. The village faces a natural lagoon opening onto the sea and boasts a long fine sand beach as well as many small sheltered coves tucked under the cliffs. Nearby are the commercial town of Portimau and the famous beaches of Praia de Rocha and Praia deVau and the nature reserve of Quinta da Rocha.

Fly to Faro - Alvor is 52 km from the airport Cheap flights available, Easyjet from Newcastle to Faro, BMI Baby from Durham Tees Valley and Monarch from Edinburgh, also Manchester and London airports. Car Hire available through www.holidayautos.com Transfers should cost no more than 70 euro for the family : http://www.low-cost-transfer.com There are always local taxis available - but be wary as they may try to overcharge tourists. Fare should be no more than 60 euros.

The apartment is built in a traditional style, with Portugese Fire Place in lounge area and balcony with views of pools and gardens to enjoy!!

Thank-you for a wonderful holiday, what a lovely, light airy apartment, which was ideal for our children of varying ages. We coud keep watch over the older children at the pool from the balcony, which was great. We found some lovely restaurants and fell in love with beautiful Alvor. Mr & Mrs. Watson & brood!!
