Rectory Cottage, Alvescot is a truly classic Cotswolds cottage built in traditional stone under a Cotswold tile roof, but presented in a beautifully cool and contemporary style that makes it a stunning option for groups or families of up to 10 people. Set overlooking fields and surrounded by period Cotswold properties this delightful holiday cottage offers a very high standard of self catering accommodation. Internally, the owners have created a stunning home, which while contemporary it retains a wealth of period features that give a real sense of warmth and 'welcome'.

The accommodation, which is set over three floors and with good size rooms throughout, has many period features through out. Including flagstone flooring, beams and mullion windows but of particular appeal is the kitchen which is, as they say, 'where the heart is': a gorgeous light room with a vaulted ceiling and Aga. When we visited the property we came away with the wow factor very much in our minds, we're confident that you'll feel just the same when you walk through the door too! An excellent choice.

The Cotswolds region

There are many local attractions nearby including the Cotswold Wildlife Park, as well as a host of delightful villages to enjoy either on foot or by car. Slightly further afield are Oxford, Stow on the Wold, Warwick Castle and (for the more determined shopper) Bath or Bicester Outlet centre. There are many, many excellent pubs nearby and similarly countless walks direct from your front door.

Alvescot

Alvescot is a small picturesque village located approximately 6 miles south east of Burford and approximately 20 minutes from Oxford. Set in open countryside, it is a traditional location with many period homes built in an old fashioned style. There is a local pub within the village with additional amenities to be found with the market town of Witney.

"No WIFI or mobile signal"

The cottage is lovely and so is the surrounding area. Although the uneven stairs and low ceiling was difficult for my elderly parents. What made the holiday a disaster was the fact i called the agent … More

We were sorry to hear of the difficulties experienced by the guests staying at Rectory Cottage. At the time of the visit, there were wifi problems in the whole village, and not just at this cottage, and was a matter completely beyond either our or the owner's control. The supplier has now been changed and the problems have been resolved.
Regarding mobile signal - this is a relatively rural area and problems will be experienced. Coupled with this is the age of the property (approximately 350 years); the walls are 3 feet thick and made of stone. In many parts of the property there is no mobile signal, and there is nothing that can be done about this. The offer of the £100.00 compensation was made purely as a gesture on our part by way of apology for the difficulties experienced.
